The night was young, and the hallways to the Airship in the sky were completely empty. Only 1 member remained, and this was the boss' Right Hand Man. He volunteered to watch over the ship while the rest of the clan completed a mission, but this was taking longer than expected. RHM sat in the main chair, staring aimlessly into the sky full of stars. He was laid back in the chair, hands behind his head and legs propped up on Reginald's desk.
His mind was quite empty at the moment, as he was trying to relax from the fact the clan was at least 2 hours overdue on their trip. The clan went to steal a very valuable item from different banks and museums, but Reginald told RHM it would only take 2 days.
It has almost been 3.
"Hey, can I get everybody's attention?" Everybody turned to see the leader standing atop a table with his fancy champagne glass. "We are heading out on another mission, and this one is gonna be better than the rest!" Everybody cheered before he silenced them again. "We must infiltrate the banks and museums in this city for their most valuable items! Now, we need somebody to stay back and-" RHM pushed through the crowd and said boldly, "I'll take responsibility of the ship while you're gone."
"Ah, splendid! I knew I could count on you, Right Hand Man!" Everybody clapped before retiring to their rooms. Just as RHM was about to leave, Reginald approached him and said, "Thank you for taking watch of the ship. I know you'll do fine." RHM smiled and replied, "It's nothin, boss. You guys will do great."
Now his mind was filled with the memories of that night. Everybody seemed so happy and cheerful.. but when the day arrived, they all seemed hesitant. RHM glanced over the boss' desk and spotted a couple things. There was a small green sprout in a pot on his desk, some papers, but also a picture frame.
The frame looked like it had been there for a long time. It had dust forming around the handcrafted wood, and the edges of the picture began to fold back. He reached out and took the frame, looking at the picture inside.
It was a picture of Reginald and himself. They were standing behind an exploded building with gold and riches in their hands. He laughed at this, remembering this specific moment in time.
Everything stemmed back to Reginald. For years, they didn't get along, but now? They were like best friends. They still disagreed on things, but they were close. Too close, maybe? RHM put it back down and decided to head to his room for the night. He flicked the switch for Autopilot and began to make his way back to his room. The halls seemed darker and more eerie at this time of night. He was a bit unsettled, but he kept his guard up.
Something seemed wrong. There were now multiple phones ringing throughout the ship, and they seemed desperate. He rushed to one of them and picked up, hearing faint screaming on the other side. RHM's eyes widened in fear as he rushed back to the control panel. Everything was shutting down, and the ship was lowering in altitude. He tried as hard as he could, but it seemed nothing would budge. Somebody had sabotaged the ship.
He slammed on the buttons, his hands shaking furiously. "God DAMN it, why isn't anything working!?" Suddenly, there was a call to the front desk. He hastily grabbed the phone and listened for what was on the other side.
There was coughing before a soft voice spoke up and said, "T..They got us, RHM. I'm sorry, you did amazing. I don't know how much longer I'm going to survive.. but, I lo-" Then, suddenly, there was a gunshot. The phone went dead silent, and RHM dropped the phone to the ground. He fell onto the ground, hands covering his mouth and face. Tears flowed from his eyes as he let out shaky cries.
They were dead. Every single one of them. Would RHM be the next one-? Suddenly, as RHM was standing up as he saw the plane nearing the ground, everything paused. The ship readjusted and everything turned back on.
Now, it was just RHM against the world. Nobody else.
