This is inspired by those 'mortals meet demigods' stories. Enjoy!
WARNING THIS IS SUPER STEREOTYPICAL HAHA
I thought my college roommate was super cool when I first met him. I was wrong.
Travis Stoll seems to have a second life that he refuses to tell anyone about. He's not one of those kids who is super focused on school, don't get me wrong, he barely cares. He pranks everyone in our dorm building, but is still extremely popular. Everyone likes him. He's invited to hang out with every single friend group, and girls ask him out all the time. He always refuses.
I, Hunter Green, live a completely different lifestyle. I'm always the one dragging Travis to the parties and inviting people to our dorm to hang out. He never makes any effort, yet he has the life every guy in our college wants.
One time, I found a sword hidden underneath all of his shirts in his dresser. When I asked him about it, he said it was a collector's item. I began to pray every night before I went to bed that he would not kill me in my sleep.
I eventually learned to accept how Travis was, even though I didn't understand it. That was until Adare stopped by. Adare was the one girl who every boy wanted, but she was extremely picky. I asked her out over twenty times, but she never said yes. Today, she stopped by to see Travis. I was laying on my bed when a knock came from the door.
"Can you get it?" I asked. I was dedicated to stalking a new girl's Instagram.
"Fine," Travis replied. He opened the door and standing there was Adare. My phone dropped out of my hands and I sat up quickly.
"What's up?" Travis asked.
Adare leaned against the doorframe. "I was wondering if you wanted to go out tonight, like, on a date."
Travis sighed, like he was tired of girls asking him out. "Thanks, Adare, but I have a girlfriend."
My jaw dropped and Adare's smile turned into a smirk.
"She's not here, is she? She doesn't have to know." she replied.
Travis rolled his eyes and slammed the door in her face, returning casually to his bed while I stared at him. When he finally caught me looking, he asked, "What?"
"Since when do you have a girlfriend?" I exclaimed.
Travis shrugged. He sat down next to me, pulled something out of his pocket, and handed it to me. I unfolded it to discover it was a photo of Travis' girlfriend. She was extremely beautiful. She had green eyes and brown hair. In the photo, she wore a bright yellow sundress and was holding a sunflower.
I looked at Travis, who was staring at the photo with a mixed expression. He looked hopeful, but sad.
"Her name's Katie," he muttered. "I haven't seen her since the Summer. We're still together, but I miss her so much, man."
I nodded and handed him back the photo. "What's she like?"
Travis smiled in a way I have never seen him smile. "She's wonderful. She's driven, determined, passionate... one of the strongest women I know. She doesn't like it, but she has a good sense of humor if she likes you. It took me years to get on her good side."
Now it all made sense to me why Travis was so firm with other girls. If he spent years trying to win this girl's heart, he wouldn't want to screw it up. I had never been in love, so once again, I couldn't relate. But I respected him now, for being so loyal.
"I miss her." he said softly. He stared at the wall, and didn't seem to notice the door creaking open. I leaned forward to see the girl from the picture walking through the doorway.
"She missed you too." she said.
She was wearing light blue shorts and a pastel purple shirt, but she still looked incredible. Travis bolted up and took a second to stare at her in awe before rushing forward and spinning her around in a hug. She laughed and when he put her down, they kissed. I felt a twinge of jealousy. No girl I had ever dated looked at me the way Katie looked at Travis.
"What are you doing here?" Travis asked.
"Surprising you," Katie replied. "Was that not clear?"
Travis laughed. "Crystal."
I cleared my throat, and both of them turned to look at me. Katie seemed to notice me for the first time.
"Oh, are you Hunter?" she asked.
Her eyes were kind but intimidating. I had the urge to look away, but that would be rude.
"Uh, yeah," I replied. I reached out and shook her hand.
"Why don't I give you a tour of the school, Katie-Kat?" Travis said. He grabbed her hand and practically pulled her out of the dorm room.
Katie turned and said quickly, "Nice to meet you!"
Once they were gone, I looked at my bed to see the picture Travis had dropped of Katie. I decided I wanted a relationship like theirs, one where you don't have to worry about the other one cheating and you can keep each other's picture in your pocket while you're separated.
Everyone should want a relationship like Travis and Katie's.
now that i'm rereading this idek what this is um well anyways I hope it wasn't too bad
