Take it Easy

The soft sunshine quietly peaked through the cracks in my blinds allowing a glow to light up my room. It shown in a way to let me know the world was awake and I was able to start my day if I wanted to. I felt the subtle warmth from the sun on my cheek as soon my body decided it was time to come out of this deep sleep. I could hear my dad downstairs rummaging in the kitchen most likely making our favorite breakfast, considering it was saturday morning. The smell of cooking batter filled the air not too short after causing my tummy to grumble urging me to get out of bed.

I love mornings like these.

They fill my days with calm and ease; the exact things I need to be incorporating into my daily life. Obviously, life can be difficult sometimes. It's inevitable that we all run into a trial every now and then. Because of that, I have always found it important to search for rituals that bring me joy and unexplainable happiness.

I threw off the covers that had kept me safe and warm throughout the night and swung my feet to gently hang off the side of my bed. I noticed the temperature in the house seemed to be cold due to the previous quiet hours so I decided to throw on a grey sweatshirt before heading downstairs.

When I opened the door, my senses were met with the same smell from before but even stronger. God, it smelled so good...  I swiftly walked down the stairs letting out a small yawn as I was still trying to wake up. I turned the corner and walked down the hallway to meet my dad and what I was about to shamelessly indulge.

"Good Morning pops. It smells amazing." I kindly said as I walked up behind him giving him a soft peck on the cheek.

"Oh! Rose you about gave me a heart attack. I didn't even hear you come down the stairs. You are always so q-"

"Quiet. Yes I know I'm sorry" I cut him off following with a chuckle from both my him and I. My dad always tells me I'm the most quiet and gentle person he's ever met. Well.. after my mom of course. He says I am like her in that way.

"Don't apologize. You know I love that about you sweetheart." I glanced at him and replied with a smile. He always made sure to let me know I have qualities worth loving.

We both ate our homemade pancakes with apple bits inside of them; my favorite and his too. There was no need for conversation; the food had all of our attention. We quickly ate before he spoke up.

"I will be heading out for a couple hours. Need some more seeds for the green house. Do you need anything from the store?" He questioned and I immediately remembered what I was going to also go out and purchase.

"Can you get some extra rose seeds? The inventory is almost out at the shop but I want to plant some here too." He smiled at me and nodded.

"Yes of course. I'll be back soon." He walked over and kissed my forehead and started to head out the door. I shouted an 'I love you! Be safe!' before the door closed. I had almost forgot to add that before he left.

After I was done eating, I decided I would clean up the mess since my dad went through the hassle of making it. It's the least I could do to help out. Once I successfully cleaned up the mixes and messes, I closed the dishwater, started it, and made my way upstairs.
