I sat on the couch of Mt. Justice, playing a video game with my second best friend, Wally West, aka Star City's very own Kid Flash.
"Ugh!" The redhead groaned as I won yet again, "Did you like, hack into the game or something?"
"No," I said (I didn't), "you just don't have the talent, West."
"Whatever, Gra-" Wally started, and I hissed loudly and whacked him on the arm. I looked behind me, hoping Artemis, who was sitting behind us. Fortunately, the archer did not show any sign of hearing Wally's slip.
Wally rubbed his arm and complained, "What the hell, man? You didn't have to- oh." he stopped abruptly as he realized his mistake.
"Just try not to do that next time, okay?" I hissed.
Wally opened his mouth to say something, but the Zeta Tubes interrupted him.
Recognized, Batman. 02.
I leaped over the sofa, and Wally zoomed towards my former mentor, and started to pepper him with questions, like "Do we have a new mission? Do we do we do we?"
Batman ignored the speedster and said over the speakers, "Team, mission briefing."
Almost immediately, the rest of the Team filed in. Superboy was jogging into the mission briefing room, with Wolf by his side. Miss Martian floated in the room, and Kaldur emerged from a tunnel.
"Your new mission will take place in my hometown, Gotham City," Batman said.
I released a sharp exhale. Gotham City was probably the most polluted, dirty, and corrupt city. Central City and Metropolis are like heaven compared to my hometown. Sure, Star City has been through some scrapes, but every evil mastermind is like amateurs compared to every criminal in Gotham City.
"The GCPD gave me intel that a group of Gotham's most dangerous criminals is meeting," the Dark Knight continued, "since the Justice League and I are going off-world, it is up to you to stop this. You will be leaving in 6 hours."
And as briskly as he came, Batman left the mountain.
