"I was with a friend." Inspectora frowned "Who?" Mila sighed "Diego." Inspectora nodded "So he can confirm that, right?" Mila looked down "Yes. He was worried about something, so we met up." Inspectora crosses her arms and leaned back into her chair "And what was he so worried about, that he needed to talk with you so late?" Mila looked at Inspectora coldly "I really don't think that's any of your business."

"Hey, Mila

"Hey, Mila. Cayetana's having an NGO, just a charity dinner. I've invited your parents and I'm helping Caye-" "-Wait! You invited my parents?" Lu frowned "Why wouldn't I?" Mila sighed "Lu, if my parents see each other they'll rip each other's heads off. I can't risk it." Lu smiled "Listen, I'll make sure that they don't see each other at the event, okay?" Mila nodded "Okay, thanks Lu." Lu smirked "What are friends for, right?" She smiled and walked off towards the reception.

~~~
Mila walked into the event with her mother. She saw many people with drinks in their hands. Her smile dropped when she saw her father's hand around his new girlfriend's waist. Mila turned to her mother and realised that she was looking in the same direction. Mila grabbed her mother's arm "Let's get a drink." They walked towards the champagne and Mila saw Antonio and his mother talking to Guzman's parents. Mila smiled at her mother "Mom, Antonio and his mother are over there, shall we go and say hi?" Alba nodded "Yeah, let's go." They walked over to the four with drinks in their hands. Laura turned around and smiled at the two approaching them "Mila, Alba, how nice of you to join us." Alba smiled "How are you, Laura?"
Alba continued the conversation with the adults. Mila smirked at Antonio who wouldn't stop looking at her. She nodded her head towards the side of the balcony and they both walked over their. Mila sat down in a chair and Antonio continued to stand "You look amazing." Mila shrugged "It's really not much." Antonio put his drink down and sighed "Is everything okay with you? You've been really distant lately." Mila's smile dropped and she looked towards her father who was laughing with his new girlfriend "My dad's an asshole right now. He's left my mom miserable, which results in me also being miserable. I just wish it didn't have to be this way." Antonio was about to speak until a voice appeared from the stage. "Hola?" Mila stood up next to Antonio and they both watched as Lu began her speech.
"Good evening. Well...Thank you sincerely for being here tonight. Thank you for your kindness, from the bottom of my heart. It's hard to believe that there are still good people in the world who we can trust. And thank you especially to a wonderful woman... A generous and very special friend. Cayetana, please, let's give her a hand."
The room clapped proudly for Cayetana. Lu continued "And a fucking liar. Does this NGO even exist? It must be as false as your stories about trips around the world...Your house. Your friendship. Your Ralph Lauren dress. I don't know who you stole that from. And your followers on Instagram. Your whole life is a fucking lie. Yes, Cayetana is the daughter of a house cleaner." Mila's eyes widened at Lu's statement.
"I really believed her. Well done. Unbelievable.
It was all a big lie. Don't worry, she'll give you
your money back, I'll make sure of that. Great night. I'm sick of it. Sick of pretending. Putting on a fake smile all night long, pretending that everything was all right. But nothing is all right. Especially with Guzmán. We are finished. I'm sorry, Laura. I really tried. But it didn't work out. It was too hard. Because your sweet boy cheated on me with a Bedouin girl." Mila looked down, knowing that it was Nadia who she was referring to.
"Yes, he cheated on me. Can you believe it? I don't know how I do it, but I always end up betrayed and disappointed by the very people
that I have fully supported. Right, Carla? But I'm done. You are all mistaken if you think... you can take me for a fool and get away with it.
Because that won't happen. So now I want to toast to this wonderful night." The crowd began to deform, until Lu stopped them "Ah! And Carla is fucking Samuel."
Mila scoffed and watched as Lu stormed off into the distance. She looked at Antonio and he looked shocked. Mila then focused on her mother who was frowning. She walked over to her and touched her shoulder "I think it's time we leave." Alba smiled "Honey, I'm going to Laura's for a drink so you can go home with Antonio." Mila sighed "Okay, fine. I'll see you later." She walked off and saw Antonio waiting outside of his car. She fake smiled at him and entered the car.
~~~

Mila sat silently in the car until her phone buzzed. She secretly opened the message.

Diego
Meet me at the beach.

Mila closed her phone and looked at Antonio and smiled "Hey, could you possibly drop me off at the beach?" Antonio looked at Mila and frowned "Is everything okay?" Mila nodded "Yeah, I'm just meeting a friend there." Antonio talked to his driver and Mila was off to the beach.

Once she arrived, she got out of the car and walked towards where Diego and her used to hang out. She saw Diego smoking and she sat down next to him. Diego was smirking but kept looking forward. "Nice outfit." Mila rolled her eyes, trying to hide the smile on her face.

"So, what did you want to talk about?" Diego lowered the cigarette and sighed "I got sent photos of you this morning. They were just of you walking from across the street but... they were sent by the guys that attacked me." Mila froze "Am I in trouble?" Diego took a puff of his cigarette "I don't wanna scare you, but I don't think it's safe for you to go home." Mila scoffed "I have nowhere else to go. You can't expect me to just leave." Diego shrugged "You're right. I don't expect you to. You're rich. It's probably safer for you to stay where you are. I'll handle it." Mila frowned "What do you mean 'you'll handle it'?" Diego finally looked at Mila "Use your imagination." He put out his cigarette and walked off into the darkness.

Mila stood up and sighed. She felt quite paranoid at the fact that someone was taking photos of her from across the street. She looked at her phone and called a Cabify to pick her up.
