first of all, thank you so much for the wonderful comments on Jadewood's Jewel. you guys don't know how much they meant to me! also, do you have any name suggestions for Jadewood? I like Darkjade or Blackjade (which is the original translation) but I wanted to add 'wood' as a nod to her last name! now, let's continue with the story!
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃"This is my grandson and the heir to the Clan, Jadestone." Jewelstar introducted, unaware of the emotion in the room.
Jadewood felt her gaze inspecting every inch of the brown tabby, but she couldn't pinpoint why he was so familiar.
"I'm Jadewood," She managed.
Jadestone met her green eyes, and smirked.
Dammit, Jadewood! The white molly thought to herself.
"Hello, Jadewood."
"Hi," Jadewood bowed her head shyly.
"Are we going to sit there and chitchat like elders?" Sweetcloud snapped.
The brown tabby didn't pay any attention to his cousin. "You name starts with Jade- too, so, tell me, were you born with a piece of jade in your mouth too?" Jadestone meowed.
Jadewood was taken aback. "You were what?"
"I was born with a piece of stone in my mouth," Jadestone repeated, as if she was a small kit. Maybe she was.
"Well, I wasn't." Jadewood mewed. She felt poor and inferior to the handsome, blue-eyed tabby tom, who was the epitome of wealth.
"What?" Jadestone turned to Jewelstar. "You mean that only I am special?"
"Oh, shut it already!" Jadewood heard a she-cat mutter. Probably Sweetcloud or Rosespring.
"I don't want to be special if Jadewood isn't!" Jadestone snarled, and stormed out of the room.
There were a few murmurs amongst the she-cats, and Silkpearl slipped out of the room, probably to comfort him.
"Come on, let's go," Jadewood saw that Rosespring had sidled up to her. Brightspring had disappeared to StarClan knows where, while another she-cat whom Jadewood didn't know was talking with Warmspring. Jewelstar was now being escorted outside by her maid, Loonwing, while the rest were murmuring about themselves about Jadestone's unusual behaviour.
"I'll give you a tour of the gardens," Rosespring meowed, and Jadewood meekly followed the ginger she-cat to outside.
"That's the lake," Rosespring pointed out a glimmering expanse of water near the horizon. Jadewood nodded. "We fish and hang out there."
"That is the hunting woods, where our medicine cat, Jademoon, lives, with her apprentices. It's mostly bamboo, but there is also a stretch of oak and pine woods, while we import rabbits from the woodlands." Rosespring explained, gesturing wth her nose to the shady forests Jadewood saw while entering.
"That den there is where we sleep, we have different rooms." Rosespring bounded off to the dens, and Jadewood followed her clumsily.
"That is your room," Rosespring meowed, pointing wth her tail to a sheltered bramble den. "Now, if you don't mind, I have a tea party with the others at the main pavilion. Bye!"
"Thank you!" Jadewood meowed. "Bye!"
She pushed her way into the brambles, and saw a neat, tidy space. There was a big crack in the roof, allowing light to seep in, but not large enough to let rain in. At one side, a moss nest lined with soft feathers and heather was placed, while on the other a few herbs laid. Jadewood recognized them as her daily herbs.
Suddenly, Jadewood heard pawsteps, and a moment later, the white-furred molly found herself on the sandy ground, her ears ringing and her chest throbbing from the impact.
"My lady, are you okay?" An anxious voice meowed.
Jadewood looked up to see a pretty light grey she-cat with strange eyes, one yellow had one blue.
"Yes, I-I think I'm okay," Jadewood managed. The she-cat let out a purr.
"Thank StarClan! Oh, and by the way, I'm Violetwing, your new maid." She meowed, while helping Jadewood up.
"New maid? But where is Snowsparrow?" Jadewood asked apprehensively. Snowsparrow was her only friend back at her mansion, and she couldn't bear the agony of losing her.
"Snowsparrow is serving tea with the other maids, my lady." Violetwing meowed meekly.
"Oh, don't call me 'my lady'," Jadewood purred. "Please, call me Jadewood."
Violetwing nodded. "Yes, my lady- Jadewood."
Jadewood let out a mrrow of amusement. "Shall we go to the tea pavilion too?"
Violetwing nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! In fact, they were asking for you."
"Lead the way, Violetwing." Jadewood smiled.
