Claudine twists her key inside of her doorknob, unlocking it with ease. They finally got to her apartment after a series of traffic and bickering Maya for one hour. She sighs before opening the wooden door, gesturing Maya to come in first.

"Claudine, honey, is that you?" There, a woman sat on the white couch, a teacup in her hand.

"Maman?! What are you doing here?" This is the worst timing her mom could ever visit her. Maya, the ever so gallant Maya, bowed her head and greeted Claudine's mother politely.

"Good morning, madam. I sincerely apologize for the intrusion. I am Tendo Maya, Claudine's partner."

"Ah... You don't have to be so polite. I'm the one who should apologize. I didn't know that Claudine was bringing home her friend today." The woman sweetly smiled at Maya, who politely nodded her head with that smile on her face again. It startled Claudine at Maya, who just spoke fluent French to her own mother. She didn't know Maya spoke her native language.

"You two should go and take a bath. You'll catch a cold if you keep standing there."

Ah, right. A bath.

Wait.

"I'll go prepare some more tea and start warming up some water for you two. In the meantime, you go dry yourselves off with some towels." Smiling at the brunette again, with softness in her eyes. The old woman stood up from where she was sitting, going to the apartment's kitchen.

"Your mother is really kind, Saijo-san," Maya spoke, removing her leather shoes.

"I know. You should tell her that yourself later."

"I will."

"You should take a bath first, Saijo-san." This conversation has been going on for more than 4 minutes, each side being stubborn on their part.

"Tendo Maya, I keep telling you to go on first since you are the guest here." Claudine sighed for the hundredth time at her partner.

"Ah, but Saijo-san, this is your apartment. You should definitely go first."

"Will you shut your mouth and go in first!? The general will be mad if he finds out his daughter gets sick." Claudine pushed the Major in front of the bathroom door, feeling some soreness in her back.

"But-"

"No."

"You'll catch a cold, Saijo-san. It doesn't matter if I get sick-"

"Yes, it does!"

"Please keep quiet for a meantime Saijo-san." A glare from Claudine was what she received.

"I am saying that you need to be in good health to catch Tengoku. What would happen if you were sick while a heist is going on?" Maya had a very concerned look on her face. Silence befell the pair as they stared into the eyes of each other.

Purple. Red.

One astonished, the other troubled.

"Shall we go in together?" Maya casually asked as she unbuttoned her drenched shirt. Claudine felt the heat rush up to her face.

"HA!? WHAT ARE YOU IMPLYING, Y-YOU INSUFFERABLE WOMAN!"

"I'm not implying anything. Perhaps you're the one who assumed I was implying something indecent." Grrr... That smile again. And here Claudine thought they were having a sincere moment.

"What!? No! Just hurry, will you?! I'm getting colder just standing here." To emphasize her point, she covered herself with her arms.

"Join me?" Maya reached out her hand towards Claudine, still embarrassed and red.

"I bring my radiance to you, tonight." (Mayakuro)Where stories live. Discover now
