Even though it's a short one, listen to the song I've attached above on loop while you read the rooftop scene. It's a vibe ~
Chapter 8, Part 2: Allie's Story
Allison
The atmosphere of the car during the drive to Patricio's house was filled with spontaneous sing alongs to the old songs from Far East Movements. Turns out, both Patricio and I shared a similar interest in Rocketeer.
To my surprise, Patricio actually lives at an apartment complex just a few blocks away from Rickston High. Once the car is parked, Patricio led us to the apartment complex's lobby to take the lift up to his floor.
"So you live here with your brother?" I asked as we entered the lift. "Yeah, and my mom, and my dad" he nodded.
"Cool, how long have you been staying here?" I asked again while looking up at the mirrored ceiling. From the reflection, I could see Patricio looking at me weirdly before he spoke.
"Are you okay? You seem.. nervous" he chuckled.
Honestly, I really was. It's technically my first time going to a guy's house alone without Amber or Danny tagging along.
I squeezed my eyes shut in guilt when I realized, "I'm being curious cathy again aren't I?"
Patricio's laugh echoed the space around us, "I'm afraid so"
I mumbled a 'sorry' as I chuckled in attempt to cover up my agitation.
He punched the side of my arm playfully, "Chill, my parents aren't home and my brother is out with his friends, we basically got the whole house to ourselves"
'Way to add up onto my nerves Pat'
"Good to know" I chuckled nervously before we got out of the elevator as we reached the 15th floor of the apartment.
I stepped back to let him unlock the door to his apartment, "Mi casa su casa" he smiled opening the door for me.
"Gracias" I chuckled, doing a little knee bow before entering. "De nada" he chuckled.
A waft of sweet vanilla tickled my nostrils as soon as I entered, I took a look around the house from where I was standing.
Everything in his house was insanely neat, family pictures decorated the peach colored walls, along with colored pillows and throw blankets sprawled neatly on the couches.
My eyes landed on the frame resting on the shelf, it was a picture of Patricio assuming that he was three at the time.
Before I could give any comments, the sound of a door closing caught our attention, where a lady in her late 30s came out of the room.
"Mama! I thought you were out with dad" Patricio exclaimed.
We watched as she walked over to us with an excitedly, "We came back an hour ago, we were wondering where you were"
"I told you-"
"And who is this beautiful chica? Aren't you going to introduce me to her?" she grinned, lightly pushing Patricio out the way to place her hands on my arms.
"Hi Mrs. Fernandez it's a pleasure, I'm Allison a friend of Patricio's" I smiled, holding out a hand.
Surprisingly she pulled me into a motherly hug, something I haven't received in a really long time. I looked up at Patricio in shock, he chuckled as he scratched the back of his neck nervously.
