It is Saturday 8th November. This is the Day of Selection. I have to admit that the preparations were harder than I thought they would be. Luckily we have everything ready.
I’m not really nervous yet, but I know it will come. I don’t even want to eat. Just for sure so I don’t throw it up later. Right now I’m heading into the theatre for sound check. After that some students would do our hair and make-up and were ready to go.
The audience is filling up quickly. I can’t believe this many people came here just to see a bunch of students. I’m starting to shake. Niall tries to soothe me with words. It doesn’t work. The lights went off and my boyfriend leaves me and goes on stage to perform one of their songs. They also introduce the first person to go on stage and leave.
“Starlight!” Only one person calls me that.
“Michael?” I turn around and see him and his three friends walked to me.
“What are you doing here?” I am totally confused by their presence.
“Surprise!” We’re the special guest!” He says excitedly and greets with Niall and the boys, who just got of the stage.
“No way!”
“Yes way!” we chuckle and watch my classmate Samuel. He’s really good. Much better than me. I have no chance. Fuck this. Six more people are on stage before me. The 5sos lads ask the singer a few questions after his performance. Now it is my time.
“Just focus on you, baby. I know you can do it, so don’t put me down. Go and show how it’s supposed to be done! Remember, it’s all about you. Only you.” Niall encourages me, cupping my face. I am fucking nervous! My whole body is shaking. I close my eyes, take a deep breath and focus on the words the blond boy says.
“I love you.” He says softly, looking into my eyes and then turning me around and pushing me on stage. Wait! He just said he loves me. Oh. My. God. He said those three words. He fucknig said those three fucking words!
I “calmly” make my way to my spot and take a few last breaths. Now you have to focus, Svetlana. Focus on you. Nothing matters. Only you...
I did it. I haven’t tripped. I didn’t forget the words either. Yes! There’s a big applause coming from the audience. I’m smiling like an idiot. It was so cool. It felt really good. And the nervousness disappeared the moment I heard the music. Now I am hugging Luke. And then I hug the rest of the band members.
“Nice dress.” Calum compliments me and I blush.
“Thank you, Calum.”
“So, Lana, how do you feel after your performance?” Ashton takes over the conversation, what a surprise!
“Really good actually. All the stress is gone and I have loads of unnecessary energy.” I chuckled.
“Maybe you should use that energy to explain us this.” Luke smirked and turned to a big screen on the back of the scene. They played a video of me and Lea fangirling over me meeting 5 Seconds of Summer.
“We thought you didn’t know us!” Michael bumped into my shoulder playfully.
“I never said that! Where did you even get this? There was only me, Lea and...Niall.” That little Irish prick will see! Those four dorks were laughing at my dumbness.
“For your information Lea was the one who showed me your band. Than I only heard a few songs. She didn’t even show me a picture or told me the name of the band!” I got kind of blown away, I admit. I almost forgot we were on stage in the middle of Selection.
