"hey, mom!" eliana called as her mom came home from work. "how was your day?"
"busy." she sighed and set her briefcase down. "one of my kids was in quite the mood today."
"hmm." eliana hummed. "i have to talk to you about something."
"what is it?" she said cautiously. "did something happen?"
"no, no." she shook her head. "it's just, ben is coming to town with his family next month, and i really want him to meet you."
"oh." she nodded. "okay."
"he wants to take us out to dinner, so... what do you say?"
her mom thought about it for a minute. "i guess that would be alright."
eliana smiled. "awesome. i'll let him know."
she texted ben.
"how's the new coach?"
"peter? he's great. i love him."
"good. i never did like that easton son of a bitch." she shuddered. "always looking at you girls like you were trash."
"well, he's gone for good now. and peter's wonderful."
her mom smiled. "i'm glad you're finally getting the coach you deserve."
"me too, mom. me too."
