"Y/n Y/l/n,"
Your head shot up. "Oh god.." You thought. You had always hated the sorting ceremony. Being the center of attention was not something you searched for, or wanted. You quickly stood up, making your way to the Sorting Hat. Sitting on the stool, you felt your knees start to shake. The hat had been on your head for a mere 10 seconds before it had made its decision.
"Slytherin!"
You looked up, shocked. The only time it had decided so quickly... was with Draco Malfoy, the blonde haired pureblood. As you walked back, passing Draco, you heard him mutter,
"Mudblood."
You rolled your eyes and took a seat, waiting for the others to get their houses. Every so often you'd glance around the room, meeting eyes with Draco's. To your surprise, he would always be looking back, glaring at you. Were you imaging things? You had never talked to this boy, only hearing of him from your parents, and yet here he was. If eyes could kill, you'd definitely be dead by now.
5 years later,
Sitting in your potions class, your hand holding up your head, you drew little doodles on your desk. Glancing at the clock, you sighed as you saw that class was halfway over.
"Once you have finished with your potion, work with a partner to discuss the following text." Snape bellowed as the class automatically burst out into chatter.
You looked around the class, not too surprised to see that Draco and his group of mouthbreathers were whispering and laughing together. Sometimes you'd wish that people wanted to talk to you like they wanted to talk to Draco. Sometimes you'd wish people fell on their knees for you like they did for him. You rolled your eyes just thinking about him, turning your head the other way. You suddenly felt someone tap you on the shoulder.
"Hey Y/n, whatcha doinggg?"
You turned in your chair to see Blaise, leaned over his desk, staring at you. You grinned and he raised an eyebrow at you. Blaise had been the only Slytherin who hadn't judged you, or made you feel like the dirt they walk on. He may have been flirty most of the time, but it never really bothered you.
"Can't you see Blaise? I'm talking to all of friends."
He chuckled and leaned even closer. You could feel your face heat up as you looked down.
"Sure.. Always so popular. I must say, you look great today." He said in a suggestive tone.
You looked up at him, only to find him grinning ear to ear.
"Hey are you alright? Your face is a tad red-" He pinched at your cheeks.
"Blaise!"
You two both laughed, teasing each other. Before you knew it, class had ended. Blaise waited by your desk.
"Hey, don't worry about me Blaise. I need to pack some stuff. Go on ahead, i'll catch you later." You nudged him with your elbow, as he sighed dramatically. You smiled to yourself as you packed up your books. Maybe today will be a good day, you thought.
"What's got you all giddy, hm? Your little boyfriend ask you on a date? How pathetic."
Maybe not.. You turned to see Draco, arms crossed. He looked more pissed than usual, which made you chuckle. Turning back to your desk, you felt a hand grab your wrist.
"Answer my question, mudblood." He said through gritted teeth.
"Would you quit with that damn nickname? God, what's crawled up your arse today?" You yanked your hand away from his, "Besides, what does it matter to you?"
You noticed his fists turn into balls.
"It doesn't matter to me. I just find it surprising that someone like you would hang out with one of my friends. Don't flatter yourself, mudblood." He searched your eyes for a reaction, grinning when he saw it had cut you deeper then it should have.
"Just leave me alone Malfoy. I wouldn't want one of your pals to see you talking to someone like me." You said quietly, your anger boiling to the surface.
You pushed passed him, knocking his shoulder hard. When you finally reached the door, you turned to look at him once more.
"Just so you know, Malfoy... I would never want to be around someone like you."
His eyes widened as you glared at him. You scoffed as his face turned red, making his stupidly perfect blonde hair look even whiter. You walked out, tears brimming your eyes. Although you two had always gone back and fourth, this time you took it personally. Why were you crying? He'd never made you cry, so why now?
Draco stood in the classroom, eyes still wide. Someone like him? What was that supposed to mean? No one has ever said that to him before, and it hurt him. He would never admit that though. His fist slammed onto the desk before he stormed out of the class.
"No one talks to me like that. Not a mudblood. You're going to regret that, y/n. I promise."
