A/N: Hi.
I have nothing to say for myself.I k n o w it's been 2 weeks and I k n o w I basically said I wouldn't get sidetracked but then I started working on my other Reddie book and...yeah. But, here's the next chapter!
"Fire burns brighter in the darkness."
By the time they got inside, it had started to rain.
Vines twisted around the man's legs, wrapping him tightly in tendrils of green. They all turned to Eddie and watched as he woke him up.
The man stirred, lifting his head from the chair. He looked around, his eyes fixing on Eddie for a much longer time than they did the others. He smiled sardonically. "What is this?"
"We want to ask you some questions," Bev began, moving towards him.
"Oh, is that so."
"Yes." She glared at him. "And you're going to cooperate."
"Am I?"
She lunged towards him, lighting the tip of her finger on fire. "Listen," she hissed. "We've all been through hell, and it's because of you and your . . . coworkers. So you'll give us information. Because if you don't, you'll pay. And it'll hurt."
The man yawned, looking almost bored. "Fine. What will you vermin ask me first?"
"What do you do?" Richie interrupted. "In your lab. Besides steal innocent kids, I mean."
The man spoke in a monotone. "Our goal is knowledge. If we know how you freaks work, we're better suited to stopping and controlling you."
Bill felt the blood drain out of his face. "Th-that's not all you d-do. T-t-tell them. About how you kih-kih-kih-" He took a deep breath. "How you kill them."
"If our subjects are resistant, or have no use, then yes. We kill them." His face was devoid of any emotion except amusement.
(georgie they killed georgie they killed georgie they killed-)
The man rolled his eyes exaggeratedly. "Oh dear, is there some tragic backstory I should know about?"
Trembling came from all around them, and Bill didn't even notice the way all the shelves and tables were shaking.
The others were looking at him with curiosity, and Bill felt a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Bill . . ." Stan said quietly.
Bill shrugged his hand off, glaring at the man. "You killed them," he said, for once not even stuttering. "Your esteemed coworkers killed Mom and Juh-Juh-Juh-"
(picture the word in your mind, billy)
"Georgie." He was breathing heavily, and the man seemed to go slightly pale.
Stan leaned towards Eddie. "Can you, uh," he awkwardly tapped his head and pointed to the man. Eddie nodded, moving towards him.
"He's thinking about . . . a woman. She's yelling something . . . I can't . . . it's . . . not focused . . ."
"Blurry?" Richie offered.
"Yeah. She's yelling . . . Jury? I think . . . Georgie?" He turned towards Stan. "Who is Georgie?"
"Georgie's Bill's younger brother," Stan responded quietly. "He, uh. He died."
The tied-up man let out a small snort. Bev whipped around to face him. "What's so fucking funny this time, dickwad?"
"That little boy? He's alive."
Bill backed up, shaking his head. "You're lying." Georgie's dead, he's been dead for years, stop feeling hopeful
Eddie looked over to him, white-faced. "He's telling the truth . . ."
"He can't be," Bill insisted. Georgie's dead. If he isn't- if he's been stuck in that lab- WHY DIDN'T I LOOK FOR HIM I COULD'VE HELPED HIM HE COULD'VE BEEN SAFE-
A wave was roaring in his ears, all he could hear were his deafening thoughts and the awful sound of the man's laughing, piercing through space and tunnelling his vision and making him so angry, like he was boiling from the inside, like his body was on fire, like-
A sickening crack sounded throughout the room and Bill realized he was on the ground with his hands pressed against his ears. He slowly opened his eyes to find the corpse of the man they'd been interrogating, his neck snapped.
Bill looked up to find the others' shocked expressions. He took a shaky breath- and burst into tears.
He hated that he was crying in front of them, but he couldn't help it.
Georgie's alive he's alive he's alive
Stan kneeled beside him and wrapped his feathery wings around him. The others followed suit, and they sat there, a huddled mass, as rain pounded on the windows like bubbles popping in a soda can.
