Jungkook's POV
I have been walking Chantel to and from most of her classes and even doubled the security detail on her. I can't have Kelly coming around upsetting her like she did before. It took me a week to get rid of all the cupcakes and cookies Chantel made while she was upset. I have a basket in my hand with the last of the baked goods.
I walk into the Governor's office stopping at the receptionist's desk to announce myself.
"Mr. Jeon to see Governor Smith." Even though I was polite she looked at me like I am out of place. "Do you have an appointment?" I shake my head, "No, but I am sure he has a few minutes to speak to me." Still looking skeptical she picks up the phone and tells him I am there. After their conversation, she looks even more upset but shows me into the office.
"Not the Jeon I was expecting. What a pleasant surprise." He sticks his hand out to shake mine and I politely hand him the basket instead. Pulling back the cloth he looks inside.
"Considering our history, I never thought you would come to see me, let alone bring a gift. Thank you." He smiled and took out a cookie and took a healthy bite. "These taste just like the cookies my daughter makes. How is she?" I could tell he was enjoying the treat. The fact that he knew her baking made me think he may have been a good father at one time.
"She has been better. Your new wife visited her not too long ago and she has been baking ever since." He smiles and goes to sit behind his desk.
"Please have a seat." I sit in the seat in front of his desk. "I am afraid that I am to blame for that. I wanted them to try to work through their issues since they are family now." I can't believe he said that with a smile.
"I would appreciate it if you had her stay away from Chantel. She is not over the treatment she received from that family. She didn't apologize, honestly, she just made it worse." Judging by the vein in his forehead he was unaware of what transpired between them. "I know we have only ever met because of court activities. But your wife needs to wait for charity to come to her if she wants to make amends. Instead of cornering her in the library or wherever she happens to find her." I stand and turn to leave but think of one more thing. "I know you are her father and I am not going to tell you to leave her alone, but I will ask that you do not show up unannounced."
As I open the door to leave he calls me. "Jungkook, thank you for the treats and I will talk to my wife about her visits. Thank you for letting me know." I nod and smile like a polite young man before I left closing the door.
As soon as I left the building I sent a text to Namjoon.
Jungkook: I need to find out about my old man and how he is
Joon: I can take you for a visit tomorrow if you want
Jungkook: the earlier the better he isn't a morning person 😊
Joon: Petty
Jungkook: I don't want him to be late for work. 🙂
Joon: Mean and petty but OK
Prosecutor Smith's POV
As soon as Jungkook left I sat down and took a deep breath. I had fucked up and I am not sure he caught it. I hope he didn't since he didn't say anything but that means nothing. I need to focus on what I can fix, Kelly.
It is my fault I should have asked her if she apologized. But to be fair when I said to make things right that would have been a good start. I have no idea why I expected better from her considering her family. I need to get her here, so I sent a text.
Not twenty minutes later she shows up looking more dignified than I thought possible. In a classic black pencil skirt and slightly see-through white blouse. "Hello, baby. I was so happy to get your message." She came right in and sat on my lap.
"Dear, what exactly happened when you went to see Chantel? And please do not lie to me." I watched as a few emotions ran across her face, like fear and sadness. Tightening my grip on her waist I wait for her to speak. "I tried to make up with her I swear I did. I went to her in the library and asked her what it would take to make things right and she said nothing would make it right." I watched as she played with her fingers a sure sign she is nervous and scared, good.
"Did you ever say the words 'I'm sorry' or 'I apologize' did you start with the fucking basics!?!?" I saw her flinch as practically growled out the last few words and wrapped my hand around her neck.
"No, but I would have if I thought it would help. I am a Lee we don't beg anyone." Smiling I tighten my grip around her neck. "I want you to listen closely. You are married to me, you are now a Smith until you die. If you do not find a way to make things right with my daughter without causing her more stress, that day will come very soon. DO you understand me." She nods and I push her off my lap onto the floor. "While your down there be a good Lee and choke on my dick.
Jungkook's POV
It was zero dark thirty in the morning when Namjoon came by to pick me up to visit my dad. Normally I would have tried to kill someone, but I was up and ready to go with two cups of coffee and muffins. Chantel pushed me out of our room promising to kill me if I made another sound. While I made my way to the parking garage I made a note sell this place and find another one. I know Chantel is not as comfortable here as she once was, and I can't blame her.
"Kookie get in the car," Namjoon snapped at me. I am sure he is missing out on being with some woman. Handing him a travel mug full of fresh coffee seemed to help his mood.
It took about two hours but wee made it to the warehouse my father works at. I had him placed on this shift because he hates mornings and I am a petty bastard at heart. "I think he may already be at work." Namjoon was looking around and the living quarters were dark already on his side of the building.
I figured as much, and it irritated me to get up so early so I could visit him. Just to have some jackass to cause an accident that shuts down the freeway at 4 in the morning. "So, can I see him without anyone knowing I'm here? I mean besides his supervisor. That man would name drop me in a heartbeat if he thought it would benefit him.
"Of course, let's go." We walk into the warehouse and I am surprised by the main entrance. It is very nice with marble floors and crystal light fixtures on the wall. We are immediately greeted by an older man that appears to be in charge.
"Mr. Kim I am Mr. Choi the morning shift manager. How may I help you today?" I walk to shake his hand and introduce myself. "I am Jeon Jungkook and I would like to have a word with my father." He looks a bit surprised, but I could tell he wasn't expecting me to show up.
"We normally do not allow the workers to leave the floor unless it is for a scheduled break. If it is not important I would ask that you come back in two hours when they will have their first break." Before I could answer Namjoon did and he was pissed. "The fact that you know we are a two-hour drive from here should tell you it is something of importance to someone. Get him here now, you can cover his spot until we are done."
Out of all the brothers, he is one of the more level-headed of us, rarely even bothering to raise his voice. That is one of the main reasons he is over the workhouses with Hobi and Jimin. "Right away sir I did not mean to offend you I was simply doing my job."
