The next day, they were sailing towards Italy to refuel their yacht. Adrien woke up to a delicious smell. He was still half-awake when he heard her soft voice calling.

Marinette: Wake up, sleepy head. I prepared breakfast.

He quickly opened his eyes and flew to the kitchen as he was starving to see a table with a variety of delicious food.

"Beef, eggs, and... OMG CROISSANTS!!! Where did she even get all this? We are in the middle of the sea."

The smell of the food didn't let him think much as he found himself sitting in front of the table with total excitement. He didn't think for once that the huge bag she took from home that day had this treasure inside. He started eating so fast which made Marinette ask with a giggle.

Marinette: Hey, hold up. Eat slowly.

Adrien: This food is so delicious. You're literally doing a crime here.

Marinette: Why? Don't they feed you at home?

Adrien: Did you forget that I am a model? I am not allowed to eat this kind of sugary food or any thing related to heavy oil and fats. I remember the last time I ate croissants. My mom made them that day to celebrate my first photoshoot.

Mentioning his mother now made Marinette really curious. His mother was probably not the lady she saw with Gabriel Agreste the day she sneaked in. She could guess so by the way she called him sir. But if his mother isn't there then, where is she? She has heard of Adrien Agreste before somewhere on TV and the famous actress Emilie Agreste was a legend but she's been unseen on media for a long time. That's super suspicious and now, she thought she was going somewhere right so she had to ask. If the truth is the worst, she'll take it back and apologize. If not then there's no damage there but wasn't that a little bit selfish. Well, curiosity killed the cat, they say. She had to know the truth one way or another. She can't keep following him and her heart so blindly. She'll never trust him if he always keeps her in the dark. How could she? How could she assure herself that he won't stab her at the back when he gets what he wants if he won't tell her anything. She asked.

Marinette: Your mom? You never talk about her.

A look of sadness crossed his face as he looked down. Marinette figured it was the worst and apologized.

Marinette: I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to remind you of something you don't want to remember but...

She patted his back and assured him in a soft voice.

Marinette: Adrien, we are a team now. You can talk to me about it if you want. Don't you trust me?

He hesitated for a moment but he knew that if Marinette never trusted him, his mission will never work. Maybe he was only giving himself a reason to talk about it to someone since it's been tearing him apart. He's been waiting his whole life for someone who would ask him what's wrong. Someone who'd softly pat his back when they see him down. His father couldn't be anything but extra load to his depression but now... She's here. He got up and started telling her that old story.

Adrien: A long time ago when I was young, we used to be a happy family. Me, mom and dad. Our lives couldn't get any better. One day came and mom just... Disappeared. Nothing happened. They didn't fight. There were no signs of anything. I just woke up one day and she wasn't there. She was... gone. Two weeks later, and after a lot of searching, we couldn't find her so the cops assumed that she died. Since then, dad has never been the same. He started acting cold and getting distant from me. I was depressed. I really needed him but he wasn't there for me. That's when I realized mom is the only one who truly loved me. I am willing to do anything just to bring her back because it sucks when you're alone. It sucks when I have to smile in front of the camera knowing that there's a big hole inside my heart. It sucks when you feel like your absence is no different than your presence. That anybody can replace you. That you don't matter as much as an onion does to anyone. I am dying each day and it's not something I can control. And now I look like a stupid weak fool crying like this in front of you, right?
