The moment I touched you...

Rain stood in the clearing of the park with her instrument of music held high. Closing her eyes she let her hands do their work. The fingers of her left hand jumped between the four strings creating different pitches of various melodies while her right hand held the bow lightly but applied enough pressure on the strings to create an impacting sound. Rain swayed with the music as her bow hand started making staccatos changing the leisure flow of the music to something that dared the listener to test his limits.

And test? It did. The man slipped from the shadows of the surrounding trees coming into the outermost circle of the clearing. He had wild emotions coursing through him as he had heard her play. The soft lull of the tune had calmed him to the extent that he had wanted to explore the source of the sound pushing the task at hand to the back of his mind. He had walked right to the clearing only to find a girl enjoying every sound emitted by the elegant instrument to its full capacity.

People had a way with words but she, she had a way with music. The melodies poured out from her heart. So pure that it could bring out the darkest sides of people and make them forgive themselves. And that is exactly what it did to him. It reminded him of the darkness, the never ending fog of dread rolling around him, trapping him in it. It brought back tears to his eyes and made him live through it all again in those few seconds of listening but it did more than that.

It made him listen to how forgiveness could change a person's present and future. It told him that what had been done could not be changed but what is to be done can very well be changed. But before he could bring himself to the eternal peace the piece ended making reality come crashing down on him. He had almost exposed himself. Stepping back into the shadows he threw one last glance at the girl before turning and running away, far away from her.

It was still early in the morning, the sun peeking just above the horizon casting a rosy glow to the sleeping world. It had not snowed since last night but the temperature was not hot enough to melt the snow covering the grounds. This was one of those days when Rain decided to come to this secluded part of the forest park and play the violin to her heart's content. The soothing yet daring melody came to a lulling end as she finally lowered her bow.

She sat on the soft and cold ground and packed the violin back into the case. The comfort that a wooden instrument, hollow in the middle and with four strings stretched across the length of it, gave could not be described in words. Having packed the violin she sat cross legged on the ground gazing at the sky which now seemed like a pallet with thousands of different shades of red, golden, pink and lilac. Just as she closed her eyes, basking in the chill of the weather a voice  whispered in her ears.

"That was really beautiful, you rock queen!"

Rain laughed lightly and said, "Thanks Ash, let's have a night out today?"
