Modern, Gon and Killua are teens
Premise:
"Weighed down by both the labor and guilt of an unrequited love for the longest time, Gon decides to come clean with his feeling on Halloween night of all times."

Gon was an optimistic guy.
It's raining and he doesn't have an umbrella?
Hey now, playing in the rain is super fun!
The game he wants just sold out at the store?
But that just means a lot of people were looking forward to it and are probably really happy to have it right now!
The love of his life and his best friend got together in a relationship?
Oh well, they're perfect for each other!

Yet no matter how frequently he would echo those words to himself at night, they never quite helped lift that burden of something tugging at his heart. Gon thought he could ignore it of course, but the weight only grew with time. That little godforsaken bundle of resolved attraction, guilt, hope, jealousy, and probably even more guilt only growing bigger and more obnoxious as he continued to ignore its existence.
But he'll hold on to it, he'll hold onto it for as long as he can.
That is until the day where he couldn't bear it anymore.

When it comes to Halloween you could only do so much once society has deemed you too old to go to strangers' houses to ask them for candy.
There are parties of course though frankly, that's not everyone's thing. Disney Land or Universal Studio sounds fun if you don't mind getting trampled by a hoard of kids and spending most of your time waiting in line that is. (For not even VIP tickets would save you on a Halloween night from them).
And with that, it just leaves the haunted houses.
"Hell no, I'm getting sick of going to them every year."
"Ugh, alright fine. What do you suggest, Gon?"
Though that's a little old now I guess.
"Hmmm, shouldn't the escape-rooms be Halloween themed just about now? That seems fun."
"Ooooo, great idea Gon! Killua, can we go to an escape room this year?"
"Yeah sure, why not."
Escape-room it was this year.
Killua had taken care of the fees of course as he was the most equipped to do so out of all three of you. The scheduled time to meet up is 6pm on October 31st.
"It's settled then, see you guys there!"
