A few days before the fight......

Fred's POV

Alex has been gone a lot lately. She won't tell me where she's going. It doesn't make sense. She knows she can share anything with me. She's never kept anything a secret before. I keep asking Conner because sometimes he goes with her, but he won't tell me either. I would think it's a surprise party except the fact that my birthday is nowhere near today. It's not even next month. And they know that I don't like to celebrate my birthday anymore. I just......

No. Don't think about it. Then you'll start crying. And once you start crying you'll find no reason to stop. You don't cry anymore. STOP IT!!

All these thoughts whirl through my head. I try to, but I can't stop. I just can't. A traitor tear rolls down my cheek.

"Freddy! I'm home!"

There she is. Alex. The one person keeping me sane. She's the only reason I'm living. She sees me crying.

"Are you ok? You know what? Stay right here," she says. I already know what she's going to do. She says it in her cheery, blue eyes. Though I noticed that they don't have as much cheer as before. She comes back about 5 minutes later with ice cream. I can tell by the smell that it's Cherry Cheesecake.

Mmmmm. I thought. My favorite.

She brought the bowls over, then handed me one. I happily took it. She then turned on Once.

"Hey! What happened to making me happy?" I asked.

"Well, you seem happy. And I've seen you sneak glances at the screen while I'm watching my show," she replied, "Besides I'm tired."

I then noticed the bags under her eyes.

"I guess you had fun with Bree on your trip?"

"Yeah....," she said drifting off to sleep. She had been really tired lately. And she was gone a lot. What was happening to her? I don't know, but I do know on thing.

I'm going to find out.
