THE LAST CHAPTER

Emily's PoV:

"Chris, follow them!" I made a fuss by nudging Chris's shoulder persistently. Time was ticking away so fast that it was almost midnight. Midnight meant the beginning of January 27.

The day I wish never existed.

"Whoa whoa... Emily do you count on your dream to actually come true? Come on Em, doesn't it sound a bit silly?" I couldn't believe Chris was acting skittish after all that I've been through. I wasn't ready to waste time by arguing with him. Without another word I got down the car and embarked on a pursuit to save Nick by myself. My vision got blurry with tears.

"Emily! Emily!" Chris caught up to me in a few long strides, grappled my wrist and twirled me around, "Hear me out Em. A psychiatrist shouldn't rely on a phenomenon that is unrealistic. But if that vision means so much to you I will do anything to help. It may sound gay, but I don't wanna lose a man tonight."

Wiping the tears with the back of my hand, I gave a weak smile. Chris enwrapped my shoulder and led me to the car, "Let's save our Nicky!"

I elbowed him by the ribs, "You do sound gay."

Chris drove in a breakneck speed to Nick's camp site. He staked his chances of getting a ticket. We arrived at the camp site in twenty minutes. The university campus was heavily guarded on all sides.

"How do we get in?" I peered through the gates and found Nick and his team going through a security check. Nick was right. Not everyone could walk in and out of the camp as they pleased.

Chris's pupils dilapidated, "Wait. Don't say that I drove like a bat out of hell, just to wait out your premonition to happen."

"You said you'd do anything!" I quarrelled.

"Duh... whatever." Chris killed time by driving around the campus to find a blind spot. Unfortunately every nook and corner of the building was under surveillance.

"Chris shall we..."

He abruptly cut me, for Chris knew apparently what kind of a crazy plan I would come up with, "No Emily. I'm not ready to be reprimanded in a lockup for a night. Just call Nick and make sure he is safe."

I heeded to his words and dialled Nick. My heart painfully throbbed with foreboding to hear that Nick's mobile was switched off. It was so unlike Nick. Incase of low battery, he would've definitely called from any one of his friend's mobile. He would never leave me in distress. An intimidating shiver crept up my spine as I looked at the time in the display.

"What happened? Did a ghost or something attend the call? What's the matter with you?" Chris anxiously waited to hear from me.

"His mobile is switched off Chris. Something's bizarre. Nick wouldn't do this to me." I fretted hastily with tears pouring down my cheeks.

Chris patted my shoulder, "Calm down Emily. He would've been busy. Let's try calling his teammates." Chris tried connecting to Rich and turned on the speaker.
