I sat on the couch of the commons area with my knees pulled to my chest and my fuzzy skull blanket over my head. I had needed to use the nose for tracking but with all animals I got the weaknesses too. With the wolf's senses of smell, sight, and hearing also came the instinctual fear of thunderstorms.
"Nice blanket," Bakugou's voice said. "Wonder who's under it?"
I peaked out to see him. "Hi, Bakugou." Suddenly there was a crack as lightning struck again. I jumped and whimpered, my tail between my legs. I hid under the blanket again.
Bakugou sat on the couch beside me. "I thought you were supposed to be the adult here?"
I poked my head out and my tail poked out as I growled defensively, "I'm only slightly older than you! And I was doing search and rescue today so I was using wolf powers... I didn't know there was going to be a thunderstorm..." The thunder cracked again and back under I went.
Bakugou's hand appeared along the edge of my blanket as he lifted it off my head. "Wolves fear storms?"
"It's called instincts, Bakugou," I said. "Storms are dangerous in the wild." More thunder and I pulled the blanket away from him to hide again, shaking.
Bakugou pulled the blanket away from me. "This is no way for someone from Class A to act. Get up and stop cowering."
"You don't get it, do you, Bakugou? Even you must have fears?"
"Pfft. Of course I don't."
Thunder rolled and with my blanket on the other side of the blonde brute, I jumped sky high and landed in Bakugou's lap. I jumped off, landing on the floor, almost the moment I landed in his lap. "I'm sorry!"
Bakugou rolled his eyes. "That's just sad." He stood up and picked me up over his shoulder like a potato sack.
I hit his back with my fist but he ignored it. "Put me down! I just want to hide under my blanket!"
He threw the blanket over me. "You can't do this in the commons room, Loya. I'll take you to your room. I'd take you up to mine since the walls are thicker in my room but I have a balcony." He opened my door. "It looks a lot like Kirishima's room... but with more skulls..." He closed it behind us and set me down on the American style bed, the blanket wrapped around me.
"I am a Kirishima, Bakugou," I said, rolling my eyes.
"I didn't say I hate it." He folded the heavy comforter over my head too revealing the unicorn bed sheets. "Unicorns?"
"They were the only ones I had in this size!" I said defensively. "I have a bigger bed at home." Thunder rolled, echoing around my room, and I jumped. "This is worse!" I pulled the blankets tighter.
"No wonder. Everything in here is flat except the bed. The sound is bouncing everywhere..." He looked around my room. "Oh, you have a patio instead of the balcony... Do you have any extra blankets, Loya?"
"I-in the closet..." I stuttered.
Bakugou pulled the two other comforters that were too big for my bed from my closet. He hung one from the curtain rod and put the other on the floor right beside the door of my patio. "That should muffle it..."
"I'm sorry, Bakugou, for making you do all this..." I put my pillow in my lap and hugged it.
"It's fine, Loya." Bakugou didn't even sound irritated, which surprised me. "I don't care."
I got the feeling he did care. I jumped again as thunder rolled. It wasn't as loud anymore but still enough to spook me. I hid and slowly came back out. "This is the only thing I don't like about using my powers... I hate the instincts like these..."
Bakugou sat beside me and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. He placed an earbud in each of my ears and pushed a button on his phone. It started playing music and everything else was drowned out. He wrapped his arms around me tightly in a hug.
