The mystics and ghosts all backed away. Shendu, demon sorcerer of fire, was in front of them. It had been many centuries before any of them had seen one of the demon sorcerers. And by the aura he gave off, their amount of power had certainly not decreased.
"I thought he was supposed to still be a disembodied spirit," Dick said.
"He was," Danny says. "He only had been able to get a body last time because of Dan."
"So how could he have gained a body this time," Roy asked.
"If we knew, we would have gotten rid of it to prevent this from happening," White says. "Melinda?"
"Don't look at me," Melinda put her hands up in the 'I surrender' position. "I vanquish demons, not demon sorcerers."
"What are we going to do," Skylar anxiously asked.
"We fight," Krinos' eyes glowed green.
"Melinda, stay with me and Danny," White requested. "The three of us together could hold him off for as long as we can. The more agents and zombies that are taken down, the more help we will be able to get."
All the ghosts and mystics prepared to go back to battle.
"You think pathetic ants such as yourselves can take one me," Shendu hiss-yelled at them.
Siren, while wanting to fight, did look nervous. Aqualad noticed, putting his hand on the singer's shoulder. It made sense to the Atlantean. In their previous timeline, this was the demon that had killed him and caused the last domino of Phantom's sanity to fall.
"I'm fine, Kaldur," White sounds more like he is trying to convince himself than his boyfriend.
"He will not kill you this time, White," Kaldur tells him. "We will not let him."
Siren gave him a small smile. But the moment was ruined when Shendu took in a deep breath.
"Here it comes," Orion yelled.
Shendu unleashed his powerful breath of fire. The heat was so intense that they could all feel it before it even hit them.
"Meena Goh," Melinda cast.
She fired off a beam of condensed flames that looked like an amber and crimson laser beam coming out of her hands. She was joined by Fiara, the siren of fire, and a shapeshifter that could turn into different dragons. All of them combined their fire to intercept the demonic flames. But even with all three at once, it was very difficult to keep the fire from getting to the mystics before Shendu finally ran out of breath.
"I will see you all burn," the dragon bellowed.
Phantom, Siren, and Melinda all shot into the sky to have Shendu attack them instead of using his fire on all of them at once. Melinda rode Skylar, but the pegasus air force leader was not afraid. Well, he was but he was not going to tell anyone that. Bravery does not mean a lack of fear.
The rest of the mystics, ghosts, and heroes went back to fighting the Guys In White.
Alya soon found herself surrounded by agents as her side of the fight neared the park.
"You going to surrender, freak," one agent sneered at her.
"Not on your life," the animal mage glared at them. "If I can survive being black during the American civil war, I can survive a bunch of conspiracy theorist nutjobs."
Her eyes glowed blue with the amulet around her neck. In a flash of movements, the agents all started screaming. Animals were coming out of the woodworks and attacking the agents. Birds, ranging from bluebirds and robins to hawks and falcons, were pecking and clawing at them from the air. Rabbits and foxes used their small size to trip them as they tried to run. A few wolves and bears had come and were in full-on predator mode, using their claws and teeth to dig into them.
