I chugged down my water bottle as I got out the Uber to the hospital,"Thanks." I said as I closed the door.
I put my phone up in my bag that I had from track practice, I came straight from practice to the hospital for the past few days.
As I walked inside I went straight to the elevator and rode to the 3rd floor, once it reached the door opened and I saw TJ and Liam.
"Hey.." I spoke softly as they hugged me.
"Wassup kid." TJ said before nudging my head, making a slight mug come on my face.
"Don't do that.." I mumbled and he laughed lightly.
I knew it was killing them that there son tried to o.d. But they never said anything about it.
"I'll see y'all later." I said and we said our goodbyes before I continued my walk to Zonori room.
I knocked on the door as I slowly opened it,"Hello..." I mumbled as I walked in.
A nurse gave me a tight smile before walking out as I sat on the couch beside Zonori's bed.
"Hey." I said to him and he looked at me and nodded.
"It's the not talking to me fa me...boy." He cracked a slight smile.
"Hey Zy." He said and I smiled.
"How'd you sleep last night?" I asked him and he shook his head.
"I took two melatonins and I didn't sleep at all." I shook my head.
"I'm sorry..." I said playing with my fingers.
"You know...I'm hoping your out of here before I graduate..." I said and he nodded.
"Me too Zy...I promise I will..." He said and I felt my eyes tear up.
"Don't cry...mane c'mere." He said and I got up.
He was already sitting up,"Mane get to short ass in da damn bed." He said.
I sat beside him and he hugged me,"Why you crying?" He asked as I tried to swallow the lump in my throat.
"Because Zonori what if I fuckin lost you...when I saw you on the floor I thought you were gone." I said.
"Why'd you do it?" I asked as I laid my head on his shoulder.
"Because Zy...y'all don't know but around highschool I gained depression and anxiety...it started off with simple cutting then it got worse as life continued, it wasn't any of y'all trust me y'all what had me stable for a lil bit...but wasn't nothing working...I had stopped eating like I should..all these tattoos they cover up scars from where I cut. I had tried cutting so deep to where I hoped I would bleed out and die..it never worked..."
"I felt alone mane...I knew I had y'all but it wasn't from me to open up and what not I tried therapy didn't work...I felt alone my thoughts were eating me alive and soon they won I tried taking all those pills.." He said, once I sat up and looked at his face.
I saw his eyes were red and tears on his cheeks,"You could've came to us...to me." I said wiping his face.
"I didn't know how, I didn't wanna be judged I didn't want it to look like I was looking for attention or anything, so I wanted the easy way out...I just couldn't do it no more I wanted to die Zy...sad to say I still do..." He said looking down and I instantly hugged him.
"Don't say that Zonori...please your not better off gone, we need you here— I fuckin need you here.." I said as he hugged me back and sobbed onto my shoulder.
This is what he needed...he needed to let it all out and breakdown.
"Zy I can't do it it's too fuckin hard." He said in between cries.
"I'm gonna help you...I promise imma help you...we're gonna get through it together..." I said.
"What about your lil boyfriend?" He asked.
"Don't worry about that bitch— fuck him and his stupid ass girlfriend.." I said.
"What-"
"It's a long story..don't worry just know I'm not worried about him okay?" He nodded his head.
"Fake ass hair..." he mumbled and I rolled my eyes.
"You lucky I just came from practice I would beat yo ass." I said and he shrugged.
My phone started ringing,"Hello?" I answered.
"What time you coming home??" Alan asked.
"I'm not..." I replied and he rolled his eyes.
"Why?"
"Look can I say you is...and eat your plate?" He asked.
"Mmcht gone ahead greedy." I said and he smiled before hanging up.
"Hate them niggas..." I mumbled.
"Bye cause you know you'd go to war for your brothers." Zonori said.
"I— you right, anyways I'm sleeping here with you tonight." I said and he shrugged.
"Ight..." he said as I pulled up Netflix on my phone.
"I'm not watching—"
"Yes you are.." I said as I placed an AirPod in his ear and one in mine.
I made myself comfortable beside him,"Then afterwards imma shower and then we eat." I said as I pulled up princess and the frog.
It's my favorite movie mane I swear.
"I'm not gonna eat." He said and I paused the movie before it could even start.
"Yes you are Zonori I'm gonna force you, you have no other choice." I said and he groaned.
"At least a lil bit okay?" He nodded his head.
I played the movie and leaned against him as he threw his arm around my shoulder.
