The Phantom Lady

Chapter 5: Cats, Dungeons, Personas

Ren now stood before two jack-o-lantern creatures, that were once the knights from before. They were hovering in the air with lanterns and wore magician hats.

"This power of mine is yours! Kill them however you want. Run wild to your heart's content!" Arsene encourages him. Oh, Ren will defiantly go wild here!

"Arsene! Eiha!" He commanded and the being, Persona, his own mind supplied, complied and attacked the pumpkin heads. They strike back, but Ren doesn't back down. With the new knife he had in hand he simultaneously strikes down the two floating pumpkins. Arsene then disappears and the mask reappeared on his face.

"What the-?" Sakamoto said stunned. It was then Ren noticed his new attire. "Dude... What was that just now?" The blonde boy asked, but before Ren could try to explain, "King Speedo" came in.

"You little... I'm gonna..." The yellow eyed man began, when Sakamoto gets up and rams him.

"Hah! You like that, you son pf a bitch!?" The blonde yells. Had that coming.

"Let's get out of here! Grab the key!" Ren tells the boy, who notices the keys on the floor that King Kamoshida dropped.

"Y-you mean this?!" Sakamoto says nervously, then grabs the keys and they both run out of the cell, locking the door behind them then tossing the keys into the river that was running through the dungeon.

"Damn you!" King Kamoshida roared as he rose back up.

"Hey! What was that just now!? And what's with your clothes?" Sakamoto asked. "Woah, it went back to normal?! What's going on, man?!" He said when Ren's clothes turn back into his Shujin uniform.

"I have no idea..." The black-haired boy replied, then they heard familiar footsteps approaching. "And we don't have time to debate it! We got to go!" He says and starts running the other direction.

"H-hey man! Wait for me!" Sakamoto called and ran after him.

"You bastards! Guards! After them! Don't let them escape!" King Kamoshida cursed then ordered.

Ren and Sakamoto ran through the dungeon, trying to find an exit. It wasn't easy, as the place was filled with twists and turns, and there was no way to tell if you were going to right way or not. They also had to jump across the river, with both nearly falling in, which was terrifying enough, until they came to a dead end.

"Oh great, where do we go from here?" Sakamoto groaned and looks around. Ren looks too and notices an open cell next to them. He walks into the cell and notices a hole in the wall. Upon a closer look, it was actually a tunnel to the next cell over, past the gate that blocked their path.

"Sakamoto!" He called to the blonde. "I found a way through, come on!" He calls then gets down on his hands and knees and starts crawling through the tunnel, with the other boy following.

"Ah-! Crap! My bag is stuck!" The blonde exclaimed.

"Why didn't you put it before you, before you climbed in?" Ren groaned while the other boy grumbled in reply. Never the less, they made it through and went back on their way.

They went across a drawbridge, before having to hide behind a bunch of barrels as a bunch of guards came into the room. Once they left, the two boys head to a corridor that leads to a spiral staircase.

"Hey, if this goes up, you think leads to the exit?" Sakamoto asks.

"Let's find out." Ren says and makes his way up the stairs, the blonde boy following behind him. At the top, they come across large red wooden door.

"I-Is this... the exit?!" Sakamoto asks while gasping and panting for air, tired from the stairs. "Hey, let's get the hell out of here already!" He insist. Ren pushes open the door and goes through, only to just find more dungeon. "Wha-? Oh, c'mon man! Are you kidding me?!" The blonde exclaimed, frustrated. Ren had to agree. They resumed trying to find the exit when...
