The Great Pretender

Prologue

We're at the military training and in the middle of the training I was anxious thinking about someone's birthday, Sam and I were in the same team along with Lucas and Kenneth. They were my buddies since grade school, we never left each other even if it's good or bad, kung ano hina-harap ng isa haharapin namin ng sabay.

I can't leave my eyes open thinking if I might ask Captain a permission to dismiss us early, well it's not a bad thing pinsan ko naman si Captain Ace.

"Tol!" I hissed.

"Oh? Ano problema mo?" Sam

"Tangina! Almost 4:30pm na wala parin akong nabili na gift para sa 18th birthday ni Alexandra !"

"Tangina tol ask permission ka sa kuya mo loko kaba?" Sam hissed "tas isa pa later on mag di-dismiss nanaman tayo so unahan mona"

"What's with the chitchat? Stand straight!" Kuya Ace just appeared from nowhere and shouted those words.

Sam and I followed his orders.

'Damn paano ko kaya to u-umpisahan... uh....'

"Permission to speak captain!" I exclaimed. Sam's eyes got widen after what I said

"If you want to ask my permission to dismiss you along with private Adisson both of you are dismissed" Captain replied.

As Captain turn back Sam and I walk out.
"Damn lakas fighting spirit mo ah" William exclaimed, maybe alam na ni kuya pakay namin or kanina pa yun nakikinig sa usapan ng may usapan " naks lakas ko kaya dun" I replied.

Nag mamadali kami para maka bili na ako ng regalo para kay Alexandra . "Can't even imagine She's 18 na pero maliit parin haha" ani ko kay William.

"Loko karin no? Hahaha. So ngayon kana mag pro propose sakanya?" He tossed me his car key at sabay kaming sumakay .

"Yeah parang ganon nanga, tagal konang nililigawan yun kilala nanga ako ng parents nya" sagot ko habang pina-pastart sasakyan.

As we drive I stopped in front of a jewellery shop. "Oh? Bat tayo huminto dito? Don't tell me mang ho-hold up tayo dito" Sam said nervously.

"Gago! I'm gonna buy her a gift"

"Sure kaba na dito ka bibili? Pero ang mahal ng alahas dito!"

"Yes naman! Ano tingin mo sakin hindi Lopez?" We entered the shop and suddenly there's a necklace that caught my attention it's simple but elegant.

"Um... how much do this necklace cost miss?" Sam asked the staff.

"That necklace cost 500,000 pesos sir" she replied.

"I'll buy it!" Nasabi ko nalang yun ng walang naka babag sa isipan ko, well Adisson can't stop me he's kind of friend who supports me for everything.

I've picked my ATM card and have the necklace " thank you" I respond with a smile.

"Simple but expensive huh?" He smirked.

"You know if magiging kayo na talaga ang swerte nya sayo tol... so gimme the key ako na mag dra-drive" he punched my shoulder and haved the key

"5pm, tol stop tayo sa malapitan na flower shop bibili lang ako ng bouquet" I've keep tapping my legs anxiously.

"Sure, dun nalang tayo sa flower shop ni tita para malapit lapitan tayo" he said and chuckle.

So... as we buyed bouquet we just noticed the clouds were dark maybe its gonna rain, at 6:21pm it started raining and I just checked the latest live and it's all about her debut it's on going kaya pina-padali ko si Sam mag drive baka di na namin maabotan.

And all the sudden we encountered traffic "buddy malapit na tayo oh pano nayan?" I check the video live again and it's still on going. After 10 minutes Luckily the traffics gone and we drive straight where they held her debut.

Bumaba na ako sa sasakyan at nag lakad papunta sa lugar kung saan ang debut nya di bale nang maulanan sulit naman kasi makikita kona sya, it's 8:59pm naka abot na ako kung saan yung address pero wala na akong nadatnan.

"Um... excuse me? Saan na yung birthday celebration dito?" Tanong ko sa staff na nag a-arrange na ng mga upoan.

"Kanina pa po tapos yung celebration sir, balit po?" Staff.

"Ahh.. wala po sensya na sa abala"

Mundo ko bigla nalang huminto pagkatapos ko malamang tapos na pala yung celebration 'Liit sorry if pinahintay kita' bulong ko sa hangin.

Sumakay ako sa sasakyan ni Adisson at nilagay sa back seat yung bouquet " uy tol sorry di kita naabotan dun di ko mahanap payong ko eh" ani nya.

"So? Andali mo atang naka balik? Tas isa pa bat nasa sayo parin yung bouquet?"

"Wala na yung party tol kanina pa daw tapos" I replied dryly

Sam rubbed my back "okay lang yan tol puntahan nalang kaya natin sa bahay nila"

I just smiled and we drive through her address then nalaman nalang namin na sakto ng pag abot namin kaka alis lang nila papuntang airport para lumipat papuntang Australia para mag bakasyon.

Bigla bigla nalang tumulo luha ko ng di ko namamalayan. Naka tayo lang ako at napaiyak sa gitna ng ulan "tol halikana magkakasakit kana nyan!"

"Sorry Liit. See you soon" I just sobbed and smile "I... love you"
