Chapter 1 - "Irritated, angry and... confused?"

I have been sitting in the café for the past hour waiting for my best friend who was supposed to do project for our English class with me. But, of course, he was late. Like usual. I huffed again and looked around, hoping that I can telepathically call him to come to me. He's probably around whoring with one of his "girls".

But he's not typical man-whore. No. He goes around, sleeping with as many girls as he can. But, he is really picky with who he goes. They are all tiny and thin with practically no curves and blue-eyed with short, straight blond hair. At the first glance, they seemed almost childlike innocent, until the second glance. Then, you could see coldness and calculation of the every step they take. Most of them were cold as snakes. I don't know why he prefers them like this but, well; I'm hardly one to judge.

I may not be slutty like the girls he's sleeping around with, but I'm definitely not a nun. I do have a custom to pick some guy when I'm "in the mood" but I don't do that a lot. I usually just go with someone I already know, or I've at least seen from the school to be with for the night. I guess I'm just typical college girl who just wants to have fun. But nevertheless, I'm always safe. You never know when some tiny mistake could cost you your future, or even worse, your life. You may end up pregnant, forced to raise a child all by yourself. And you can end up with some of those nasty sexually transmitted diseases. Some of them are curable, some not. That's why I always carry at least one condom with me. Never know when you'll need one.

And I should know that boys never remember to wear them and when they need them, they make excuses like; "Come on, baby, just one time. I'll be careful. I'll pull out." Like that makes it all better. Don't they know that a girl can still end up pregnant like that? And get an STD.

I snicker at the thought. Yeah, right. I've seen girls fall to those charming words all the time, and I've seen what those words bring to them.

I sighed and looked at my wristwatch again. He's late for over an hour now. I'm starting to worry. He may be late for everyone else, but for me - his best friend - he's always on time. Despite his colourful past, that redeeming quality was one constant in his life. Maybe something has happened? God knows, he's never careful with what he does. His careless attitude always got him in all sorts of troubles, thankfully never the ones he couldn't get out of. But you can never be too careful, which he wasn't. I sigh loudly, looking around. I should probably check on him.

I just started to get up to go and look for him when I saw him getting in the café with some Blondie. She wore really cute light blue summer dress. But, unlike his other conquests, this one had long, wavy blonde hair. She had lively turquoise eyes and even though she was short, she definitely had curves. She didn't wear any make-up, at all. She didn't look wild enough for him, especially when compared to his previous "girls". All in all, she didn't look old enough to be legal (even though I was sure she was – he was player, not paedophile). She looked all innocent, like an angel. I could practically see wings and an angelic aura floating above her head. Though she was probably far from an angel, if she was going anywhere near Jason.

Though it would be fun, seeing his face after she professes to him how she has wings and is God's messenger, guarding him from the temptation. I snicker at the thought.

He had an arm draped around her with the biggest smile I ever saw on him. She kept her eyes on the floor - obviously blushing - with a gentle smile on her angelic face.

When they came to my table, I scrambled to my feet while they sat on the chairs opposite of mine.

"I'm really sorry, Vans. I was going to come help you with the project, but then I met Angela and we started talking and well..." he looked at me with puppy eyes trying to soften me up. But I knew he wasn't sorry, at all. The devil. He has always been like this, knowing that he was the only person I couldn't hold a grudge against for a very long time.
