Waking up the next morning I gleamed as I unrolled the blinds to my window to let the daylight in.
Today is the day. August 3, 2045, my birthday. The entire family was going to come and help me commemorate my eleventh birthday and I was truly the most enthusiastic little girl in the house.
" Amani! Come help me tie these balloons up to the house! " My mom cried out from outside.
I grinned as I tried to establish an outfit for the day.
" I'm coming ma! I just need to find some clothes first! " I shouted as I walked to my closet.
I heard her laughter from the front door.
" Take your time I'll figure it out. Don't forget to make sure your outfit is pink! I told the gang your colors were pink so everyone will be wearing the same colors! " She pointed out.
" Understood. " I said while peacefully grazing through the clothes held by silver hangers.
After five minutes I finally established an outfit.
Setting everything on my bed I stood back to view. It was a pink gown with black stockings to match, a yellow clip-on sunflower that I could put in my hair, two small golden earrings, grey flats, & a charm necklace I'd gotten a year prior for my tenth birthday.
After putting everything on I walked over to the mirror hanging on my wall to observe.
After looking for a moment I touched my hair spotting that it was a mess. Quickly going to the bathroom I grabbed a large purple brush and edge control. Starting to brush my 4C coils into place hoping they'll corporate I positioned it into an elegant ponytail pining the sunflower on the side.
" You almost ready?? " My mom peeped her head through my room door.
I laughed while doing a three-sixty spin. " Yes, I am. "
She put her hands up in disbelief. " You look stunning Nani. "
" Mom! Please! No tears you promised! " I wailed.
" Okay, Okay. " She laughed wiping the small tear that formed on her cheek. " No more tears. "
I sighed looking into the mirror again. " What time is grandma coming? "
" Around three or four. Four-thirty at the latest. " She said squeezing me from behind. " Don't worry. Everyone swore they'll make it this year. "
" It's not that. " I closed my eyes. " What if we have the church incident all over again? We still don't know what this is. I still don't know how to control it? What if I touch someone and it happens again? "
" Oh! I almost forgot! " She announced quickly leaving the room.
" Forgot what? " I asked. " Mom! "
Seconds later she came back into my room with an elegant box.
" Now I don't know if these will help you. " She put her head down. " But I've been looking on the Internet and I think you have something called clairvoyance and it says you have to touch a person skin to skin for it to work. Hopefully these work. Happy Birthday. "
Looking at her I took the box. Opening it to see two small glitter gloves.
" Gloves? " I raised an eyebrow.
" It's worth a shot? " She chuckled. " Try them on and test it out on me. "
Taking the gloves out the box I slid both on my little fingers.
" Okay. " My mom stated. " You said all it takes is for you to touch a person right? "
I nodded.
