a/n: What do you guys think of the new cover? I thought the old one was boring.

--------------

The first day back from the case Spencer spent his lunch break leaning across your desk apologizing. Which he kept reminding him he didn't need to do, but he wouldn't listen. To sum it up, he told you he wasn't ready. Too much had happened to him in and past, which you respected. He didn't know when he would be ready again, and he didn't expect you to wait around for him.

But you did, you waited six months.

You and Spencer got close in that time. You were practically inseparable. You could confidently say he was your best friend.

You both opened up to each other about the past. He told you everything, from Maeve to his Dilaudid addiction. And you shared just as much from your life.

It was a Friday night. You just got home from headquarters and you wasted no time changing into comfortable clothes and throwing yourself onto your couch to binge New Girl. You had finally gotten in a comfortable position to lay for the next seven hours when you heard your phone go off from the kitchen. You groaned as you slowly got up and made your way over to see who was disturbing you.

And right there was Spencer's number flashing on the screen with an incoming call. You didn't waste any time picking it up.

"Hey Spence, what's up?" You tried to sound cheery even though he had ruined your peace.

"We should do something tonight." You looked down at your pajamas and considered his offer.

"Do you mind if we do something at my place? I don't feel like changing and I'm already in my pajamas." You whined. You could hear him chuckling on the other end of the line.

"Yeah that works, I'll be over in approximately twenty-five minutes."

You both said your goodbyes and hung up the phone.

You decided to clean up a bit around your apartment and before you knew it Spencer was knocking at your door with some red wine in his hand.

"Ooh, you brought wine!" You didn't hesitate to take it out of his hands and pour each of you a glass. He sat at the bar stool right across from you on the other side of your kitchen island.

"Yeah I wasn't sure what you wanted to do but I know you wouldn't object to some wine." You studied his face as he sipped on the wine. You've known him for months but you were still in awe whenever you looked at him.

The next hour was spent drinking the entire bottle of wine Spencer had brought while you both laughed and talked to one another. You got along with him so well. It was like no matter what the topic was the conversation would never die. Everything between you two just flowed so naturally, you loved being near him.

As you swallowed the last drop of wine from your glass you only felt buzzed. It wouldn't hurt to break out tequila, right?

You poured a shot for each of you and tried handing it off to Spencer but he shook his head. "I wanna be able to drive home tonight." You respected his wishes and downed both of the shots. Spencer laughed at the regretful face you made. The taste of alcohol was not a favorite of yours.

A few more shots later you made your way to the couch dragging Spencer along. You felt the tequila hitting more and more each second. It was obvious to Spencer as soon as you tripped over your own feet trying to get to the couch. You sat directly aside him on the couch but you were both facing each other. You took in the sight of him in a purple sweater, you always told him he looked amazing in purple, it was a shame he didn't wear it more often. You managed to notice him open his mouth to say something multiple times even while your mind was all over the place.
