I walked into the Great Hall with the rest of my house, Slytherin, for the start of our fifth year at Hogwarts. So far life here has been great with the exception of last year, Fourth year when my school hosted the Tri-Wizard tournament and by a strange twist of fate both Potter and I were chosen. The end of the tournament was genuinely the worst considering that Voldemort had nearly killed me but instead Cedric Diggory had pushed me out of the way and died instead, after that the entire summer I wasn't the same. The entire summer I spent in my room hardly answering any letters from my friends.

"I wonder who the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is?" I question while we sit down.

"No idea but my best bet is that lady in pink there, don't know why Dumbledore won't give Snape a chance at teaching it." Pansy comments.

"Salazar, I hope she's not. She looks horrid." I take my seat beside Draco and earn a glare from Pansy.

Pansy Parkinson has been after Draco since she first met him on the train back in first year and she's always disliked me since he's my best friend.  It's not just that though Draco and I have always gotten along well and became practically inseparable since first year, although he's actually a bit of a scaredy cat he tries his best to make sure I'm safe when something bad happens at school. Minus first year of course the stupid git took off running to the common room but I can't blame him too much since everyone was afraid.

Second year there was fear when we came across Mrs. Norris petrified and blood written on the walls saying "The chamber of secrets has opened, enemies of the heir beware" all of Slytherin knew it meant muggleborns so it was tough to hide my fear about it. After all I was a pureblood and had nothing to fear right?

"Seronia? Hello? You alive there?" Draco's voice pulls me out of my thoughts as he bumps his shoulder against mine.

"Huh? What is it you git?" I give him a playful glare before my eyes drift to the teachers table.

"You zoned out for practically the entire sorting ceremony, you alright?" he asks me, "You're not thinking of last year again are you?"

"It didn't happen last year. It happened only a few months ago," I whisper to him, "Now shut it the sorting ceremony is over and Dumbledore is about to make his speech."

The last first year got sorted into Slytherin so everyone cheered loudly at our table before it dies down just as quickly when Professor Dumbledore stands at the podium to make his speech. But not far into it the lady in pink, Dolores Umbridge, interrupts him to make her own little speech and from what I've gathered it sounds like the Ministry of Magic is interfering at Hogwarts which makes Draco and the others happy. This won't be good for me I think.  She works for the Ministry and therefor she knows Acadia Fernsby, a mugglesborn advocate, she works closely with the Minister and whoever else works closely with him. I mentally shake off any nerves and dig into the amazing feast that appears before my very eyes, I start joking around with my friends and Draco while I eat dinner and poke fun at Pansy after catching her staring at Draco again.
