I woke up and pushed the dew of my face the letter still clutched in my hand. I dropped it on my lap and straitened its crumples. I didn't bother to stop the images it caused last night come into my head. A gold letter with indigo ink on the door mat. My dad giving me a slap, 'you can get out now!' No learning stuff like that in this house! If we couldn't learn it then why should you' He shoved me past my mum I gave her a look of plead but she just glanced at me looking ashamed. The letter still in my hand I was sitting outside waiting for my suitcase with all my things in it. There it was thrown out the window nearly squashing me. After that I grabbed it and ran.
Nightlock Academy, the name of the school. I read the dates again must be at the school by the 22-29 of August why give it a week between? I mean some people will be there a week before others. Then I realised today was the 29th
I strained my eyes searching for any sign of human life. Nothing, soon though it will be full of children and their mothers. I walked back onto the street in the supposed direction of Nightlock Academy.

I had been walking for an hour and the only building which fitted the address was Raiders college for boys and girls, what was this some kind of joke!
After a while of pondering I walked through the doors maybe they would know where it was.
I put my hand on my arm where my dad had hit me. It stung like crazy. 'Hello, can I help you?' A woman said sounding bored. 'We Don't give money to beggars you know' she eyed my unbrushed hair with a few leaves in it from the tree I had slept under. I straitened my self up, pulling out the leaves. The woman looked at me questioningly 'we don't do shelter either, this school is for young ladies and gentlemen not...' she looked me up and down 'homeless people' she sounded exasperated.
I marched up to her with my suitcase at the door letter in hand.
'Do you know where this school is?' I questioned angrily.
She turned white when she saw the name 'I am so sorry for being mean to you... ' she paused 'you must prove your power and show it to me.'
I think I can or will be able to control the wind still what I can do now is practically nothing and makes me so tired. I lifted my palm (the woman hyperventilating) and blew in a clock wise direction slowly an mini tornado formed when it was done I was tired but the longer I kept it up the more tired I became soon I was exhausted. 'Stop that's all I need to see go through that fire exit door and follow the path for five minutes or till you come to a school bla bla bla that's your school.' She was back to being mean again it was probably my power was really weak and I couldn't exactly intimidate people.

I was glad to be outside again the walk to the school took forever. Eventually I arrived at the school it was a nice but serious building with vines creeping up the walls. I then realised that wasn't my school that was like the reception or it looked like a check point in a game. I walk towards it. This time a man greeted me. 'Letter?' He asked. I handed it to him. He read it. Nodding then asked if their was anything important on it before putting the letter in a shredder. I was shocked. 'All will be explained' he said handing me a ticket 'keep that safe'.
I carried on walking to some kind of vehicle it looked like weird car but the shape of an egg with two sofas that looked like a three seater one behind the other. At the front there was a mini bar for drinks and snacks and at the back was a sort of boot for trunks, not only that but it was floating. I thought it couldn't get any better but when I sat down not only was it cosy but there was a button that said I could put up the roof and so I did and not only was it roomy but warmer and see through. Then when I looked up I saw the roof was curved finishing the egg.
I was about to press the 'go' button when I saw a girl running down the path to the floating egg. Her mud coloured hair went to her shoulders and unlike mine it was brushed and was flying out behind her as she ran. 'Can *breathe* can I come in?' I nodded 'great. My names willow by the way.'
'Mines Gale' I mumbled i didn't have many social skills when I lived with my parents anyway. Then they kicked me out. They could always push me around, saying I was weak souled, near nothing of character and value to anyone.
'Are you alright?' she said after pressing the go button it was a rectorial question, not needing an answer. 'Your clothes are filthy, look at the stains. You know I don't think you will make many friends with that top. It looks no offence, faded, to young for you and it's covered in rips and tears.' She looked at my jeans, there were a few rips but that was it. ' well they aren't so bad. 'You can borrow a top of mine.' She climbed over to the back seat where she had thrown her suitcase and pulled out a short sleeved t-shirt that was light grey and had dark blue patterns on it. My first thought my arm. The bruise. She will see. 'Urr isn't it to cold for tops like that?' I racked my brain for ideas on why not to where that top.
'I guess' she took a deep sigh, 'I really liked that top'. She pulled out another. It was also grey but it faded from dark grey to lighter grey, it was long sleeved and wasn't tight but wasn't baggy as well. I went to put it on after saying thank you for nearly eternity, and heard a gasp. Dam I forgot to hid my bruises. I shoved the top on, then slowly turned to face her. 'It feels worse than it lo- I mean it looks worse than it feels.' I said shaking.
'They must sting a bit then 'cause your covered on them' she answered in disbelief, 'how did you get them?'
'I-I-I fell over ' coming up with an idea.
'With all of them? Honestly that's the most cliche answer ever.' But she didn't press
'Please don't tell anyone.'
She sighed,
'Please'
'Fine, just tell me the truth. Was it your parents?'
I sighed. That was enough to answer.
She looked horrified. I couldn't look her in the eyes, not anymore and I feel like it will last forever now-now she knows a secret like this.

I opened the mini bar and took out a ginger beer and blueberry muffin. 'Can you pass me a coke?' It was the first time we had spoken in about ten minutes. I handed it to her, then took a sip of ginger beer.
'.....thanks......' She said,
'......'
'...'
'My parents didn't used to... Just when I got my letter for the school things went downhill quickly first they didn't look at me then my dad hit me if I got in the way. Then the week where you had to be at school came and so I asked my dad if he could drop me there and they through me out. It really didn't last long. I don't even know why they hated me for having powers, I have one clue. When my dad through me out he said something like 'if we can't of learnt it then why should you, I don't know whether that means they had powers or didn't.' I was nearly crying at the end of it.
'You can keep the top' was all she said.
