y/n's pov

i finished tying the laces on my shoes and i look over to see my best friend sleeping peacefully. i let her sleepover at my place pretty often since we're such close of friends. i enjoy spending time with her.. a lot. i really, really  like her. i doubt she feels the same way but you know what.. i'm happy to just have a best friend like her. i grab my bag and get to ready to head out on patrol. normally me and ellie do patrols together, but since it was only 5 in the morning and ellie hasn't have much time to rest, i just decided to go alone this time and let her get some rest.

ellie's pov

it was about almost one, normally y/n would be here by now. we would be home by now. i appreciated y/n letting me sleep in, but i also wanted to protect her, not that's she's incapable of protecting herself i just.. i just wanted to make sure she was okay. as soon as i was gonna grab my jacket and bag and head out to make sure she's okay i hear y/n come in the door. 

"y/n where have you been?!"

"i'm sorry i just .. i got sidetracted.", i could tell she was lying which was pissing me off even more. i took a deep breath however and calmed down. 

y/n's pov

i walked in the door prepared to be lectured by ellie. i knew i came home late but i had to do something about the cut on my arm that was gushing blood. i tripped over a rock on a patrol and fell on a trap for the infected. luckily, i only fell on the glass shard with my arm and instead of my chest. but that shit still hurt. i had to do something about it before i went home but the only thing i had on me was some cloth, so i cut some of it and wrapped it around my arm to try and stop the bleeding. so it took me an extra 20 minutes to get home so i knew ellie would be upset. but i couldn't let her know about my injury, she'd be even more pissed because of my recklessness. i looked at the girl in front of me and i could tell she was not happy. 

"y/n where have you been?!", she yelled. i sighed i tried to come up with a good excuse but i couldn't think of anything.

"i'm sorry i just .. i got sidetracted.", i lied. i didn't like lying to her, but sometimes it was better than the truth. i winced, as my arm starting hurting again. i looked and saw that i bled through my cloth now i'm bleeding through my jacket. i was too late, ellie noticed and took of my jacket and saw the cloth on my arm soaked.
