Neither Charlie nor Alex expected it when their paths crossed. Not in any way shape or form. But life sometimes has a funny way of mixing things up. Especially when you least want it to.

They couldn't be more different. But somehow their paths have crossed and here they are. With Allie trying to rebuild her life after a messy divorce, and Charlie trying to cope with all the changes in his life, these two lost individuals somehow find their way into each others lives.

Just before I start, I'd like to say please don't think "oh Charlie wouldn't do that, he isn't like that". This is my interpretation of the character. We see very little of him in the books and movies, but I think there is so much more to the character than an awkward middle aged man who has no idea how to handle his weird teenage daughter and her creepy boyfriend. I think, behind the awkward and nervous exterior, he's a funny jokey guy - as we see in a few instances. I think he's got a lot of character hidden under the "dadness".
