*Author note- My mate series (Atucian Series) I am starting to update and edit these stories for publishing. By the end of this month I will be taking down some of the later stories fully. I will have Only Cheetah-Wolf (first four stories partially available after that) I am looking to publish this series on amazon self publishing. So as long as you have placed these stories in your library you should get a notification when I update. If you are currently reading, I am giving warning to the fact I will be taking these stories down for publishing. (Later stories such as Avian, Gamstouchi, Uni may be down by next week) I appreciate the support all of these stories have gotten. I have heard so much love from readers on this world I created and it's honestly amazing! I now as an author would like to start earning on my stories as one does. Please follow me, and your support and reviews would be awesome once they are up on amazon. I hope to try and have both paper and electronic available. Thank you again!

Chapter 1

Kyra Atcuian got up at her normal time of six. Had her normal breakfast of eggs, toast and sausage, along with a cup of coffee. She could take or leave that, but since she was out of milk there wasn't really another choice. Predictable, she liked it that way.

She stood in the bathroom and gave a deep sigh as she stared at herself in the mirror. Kyra stood at five ten, weighed around one fifty, one sixty, but you would think she weighed one twenty. Her hair almost a dark gold color and had darker undertone to it. Her eyes were an odd copper color which she liked. The reason that she sighed and felt a little angered was because today she started her heat.

"Fucking great." She grumbled to herself.

Kyra wasn't a normal person, wasn't even really a human. She was a shifter, one of the handful that lived in the world. There were different types of shifters, everything from the expected wolves, to a rare ones called the Uni. At one time there had been a lot of them and now there weren't that many left. Most now lived among humans pretending there was nothing abnormal about themselves.

Kyra was a cheetah shifter, and there were fewer of them than any other. Mainly due to the hunters. A horrible group of special humans that were faster and stronger than normal. It was rumored that hunters shared their blood. She didn't know.

Hunters prided themselves on tracking her kind and killing them. Like trophies. To her they were just super humans who thought that they were so much better. A superior creature, but in the end they were freaks just like Kyra was. People with prejudices and abilities that made a dangerous combination.

However she wasn't to worried about hunters currently. She lived in a city, and most of her brethren did prefer the country. Thing was that she didn't have any family left, hunters had killed them. After that night she'd been raised by a foster family. She'd been old enough to know that she had to hide what she was from humans. From that day on she had lived under the radar, hell she hadn't even had contact with her own kind in years but that was okay.

Hunters looked for the odd signs, and hunted them down. Those people that talked to magazines like the Inquirer, or Sci Fi. They also looked for weird animal mauling in cities, they called those signs that her kind was present. Yeah because her kind went out and hunted humans down, leaving mauled carcasses behind. Humans were not a menu item for her kind.

Please, it was easier to get your food from stores now a days. While yeah an attack happen sometimes, it was rare. Mostly the shifters that did attack were provoked or sick in the head to begin with. She wasn't going to lie sometimes she wanted to go out and hunt, and she had. However it was always wild game. Never a farmer's animal, or the farmers themselves. The thought of that disgusted her a bit, she was after all part human. Humans always seemed to think that everything was out to get them. Bunch of paranoid freaks if you asked her.
