Kashima gave a long, heavy sigh as she strode through the halls of the high school. She had just been harassed by yet another mob of girls all clamoring to go out with them after school whether it be for coffee and cake, a movie, a secret make out session.
-Who knows?- Kashima thought, running her hand though her blue hair. -Either way, I just want some peace and quiet by myself.-
Luckily for her, there wasn't any drama rehearsal today, so she could head straight home. It was raining pretty heavily, and, like the absentminded prince she was, she had forgotten to bring an umbrella. She cursed as she peered outside through the glass entrance doors at the rain.
"How am I supposed to get home without catching hypothermia?" she muttered to herself. She placed her hand in the door and let it slide down a bit, her fingers curling. "I'll be drenched if I stay out there for a minute."
"Um, excuse me?"
Kashima turned her head to find a boy of about her height and age standing behind her. Rather than taking in his features, she instantly noticed the umbrella by his side.
"You remembered to bring one? Lucky! I'm so stupid, I left mine at home," she complained. "Are you walking home right now?"
"Uh, yes, I am, and I was maybe wondering if you'd want to come with me? Since it looks like you don't have an umbrella, and you said you didn't, so..." He shrugged, a tiny smile breaking out.
Kashima looked over the newcomer. He was cute, she would admit that. He had a slightly curly, full head of H/C hair and a young-looking face, one that suggested he couldn't be more than a second-year. He was considerably tall, but only as tall as she was, and he had what Kashima would call a "teddy-bear" type of build: he wasn't muscular, but he wasn't very chubby either. His E/C eyes seemed to attract Kashima's more than once.
"Of course! Thank you so much...! Ah, what's your name?" She put a hand behind her head as they opened the doors and descended the steps in the front of the school, chuckling after her question.
"Y/N," he said, lifting his umbrella so it covered both of their heads.
"Thank you for walking with me, Y/N," Kashima told him, turning her head to look at him. "It's really kind of you."
"No problem," he responded, meeting her gaze quickly and then looking straight ahead.
~Reader POV~
-I'm actually walking home with Kashima-kun in the rain! Sharing an umbrella!- You kept your eyes looking straight ahead; looking at Kashima would get you flustered and blushing.
-This is what happens in shoujo mangas all the time,- you thought. -They share an umbrella, stay over at each other's house because of the rain, and -
You shook your head slightly. -Don't think about that kind of stuff, you perv. It's just a walk home, doing Kashima a favor.-
"Oi, my house is right here, Y/N." Kashima's voice snapped you out of your daydreams, and you turned to look at her. She was pointing to a nondescript two-story house with a gate in front of it, and you nodded.
"Thanks again for taking me home," she said, beaming. "It was really kind of you."
"Uh - wait! Let me walk you to your front door so you don't run through this rain," you suggested. You didn't want to leave your crush just yet, especially in this atmosphere.
"I'll be fine, it's just a quick run -" Kashima was cut off by an earth-shattering lightning strike, and she suddenly clung to you, her hands crumpling up the sleeve of your shirt. She was so close to you that you could smell the scent of her - was that perfume? You held still as she pressed against you, obviously startled by the sound of the lightning. She was warm and smelled like violets, and she was so soft and cuddly that all you wanted to was just grab her and kiss-
