billie opened the door to her new bedroom that had a slanted roof. for some reason, billie had always wanted a room with a slanted roof.

she set down the last box for her room before walking downstairs to her parents.

"alright i think that's all," her dad said as he looked around the room that was filled with stacked boxes everywhere.

"i guess we should start unpacking," maggie said.

billie hated change. she was starting school tomorrow and she had bad anxiety about it. she didn't like that she didn't have drew and zoe there waiting for her at the front of the school.

she would have no friends with her on her first day.

*later that day*

billie finished unpacking most of her room and she was happy with the outcome.

they were allowed to come in before actually moving to paint rooms. billie's parents let her get new things for her room so she would feel more comfortable.

a knock on her door made her jump a little. "come in"

her mom walked in, smiling. "it looks good in here honey."

"thanks," billie said with a small smile.

"you hungry?" billie shrugged her shoulders. "you haven't eaten today baby, you should probably eat something. we were thinking just pizza tonight if you're okay with that."

billie nodded. "that's fine"

"alright... do you need dad to help you put up anything?"

billie shook her head. "no i'm okay"

her mom nodded before kissing the side of billie's head. "don't be so nervous honey. it'll be okay. you'll make friends."

billie nodded, swallowing the lump in her throat before sitting down on her bed as her mom walked out.

she grabbed her phone, clicking on facetime and then the "best friend😊💕" contact.

you could call her contact for drew cringy, but billie liked it.

"hi!" drew said with a big smile. "how's it going?"

"it's ok... i finished my room! wanna see?"
