Getting the New Start

After getting into the car with my dad, we take a long venture into what was like the middle of nowhere. Stopping at a gas station where we meet the others, my dad hops out of the car and walks over to their car. They were talking about their plans for the day, something that probably should've been figured out already but hadn't. I sat in the car with my feet on the dashboard ahead of me, fiddling my thumbs, I had no idea what we were doing. All I knew was that soon I would escape. Eventually, my dad comes back to the car with a smile brought to his face, which is never a good sign. "We are going on a short hike," in my mind that was the best damn news I have heard in a while. You see, Gustin is too spoiled to walk up a whole mountain and my aunt was too out of shape, so it was the perfect get-away for me because I don't typically wait on the weaker of the bunch to catch up to speed. "Okay," I say to my dad and go back to piddling, my dad rolls his eyes as the expressions from his face seem to fade away.

The car right to the destination was silent and was never broken, I would occasionally look at my dad but that was pretty much it, he either talks to me to piss me off or to make him feel better about himself. Pulling into the gravel parking lot he looks at me as he shifts the car into park, "Don't ruin this day for any of us, you seem to be really good at that." He looks back to the window which was facing the dense forest. I simply just nod my head and open the car door, as my feet hit the gravel I hear the dreadful sound of my annoying cousin. "I can't wait to hike up this whole trail!" He exclaims. "We're going to the very top to see the sunset." Fantasic, I loved sunsets but now I have to watch it with these people. "Thats even if we make it to the top." I say under my voice but no one seemed to hear it, thank god himself. As we all get to the beginning of the trail, I was the only individual to actually look at the trialmap and take a mental note of where to go to get to the top. Then we continued down the path, mosquitos, I mean, they were absolutely horrible but the other pests, aka Gustin, was just even worse. Not even 30 minutes in to the hike, Gustin is heavily breathing, I mean he was absolutely winded. I just roll my eyes and keep looking forward, which I am a good distance from them because being outdoors was my thing. As we walked up toward the top, I breathe in the air and look around my surroundings, taking it all in, wishing this is how my new life was going to be. I look back onto the stranglers who are very beat, and I think to myself of how I will leave them soon, which is a little sad in my eyes but it was something I thought would be best for me. Turning forward, I see the forest getting denser as the untouched land grew over time, it was truly a beautiful sight. Since the drive was 2 hours, it was around 3pm that we had actually gotten to the top of the montian, because slowpoke number 1 and 2 decided that they needed breaks every 5 minutes. Inside my head, I am relieved to be at the top, glancing over the trees and seeing a river, like the one in my dreams run over into the horizon. In the back of my mind, I was waiting for one of the wretched family members to just push me off the side of the cliff.

We set up an area that was for the sunset as the time passed, the whole time I was thinking about going home to finish what I had started. Sitting down on the blanket waiting for the time, my aunt and cousin snacked, and my dad drank, surprising right? I just watched the sky and the trees, it felt so good to actually be outside and being able to get out of the house, being couped up there is a death wish. Around 7:30pm, the sky started to slowly fade into a orange setting and the sun glistened.  "Isn't that just beautiful, Autumn get out of the way. You're ruining the mood and the view." My aunt said, such a horrible person. I turn to her and give her a stare, then get up to find the closest tree away from them that I could use as a support beam. As I sat there and my family talked, I felt alone, which was normal but it's something that shouldn't be normal as a kid. The breeze on the mountian seemed to pick up, making the setting even better than before, except my view now consisted of my 3 family members. While all was focused on the falling sun and rising stars, I felt a breeze stronger than before and then a folded paper was brought to my side from the dense forest that lay behind me. For a second, I was very creeped out but then we are in a very popular tourist spot, so I unfolded the paper to find a secret note again from someone from Hogwarts with the name "Hagrid".
