somewhere tonight

in the ballroom where the students celebrate their js prom, eddy leans on the counter, sipping on his plastic cup of orange juice. he sighs and looks at everyone, they seem so happy, but there's something inside him that aches. this is the last year the seniors will stay, and he's gonna miss them, especially this one person who he holds dearly.

eddy goes forward in search for that person.

"it's about time i do this"

there he spotted the boy with glasses, their eyes meet and give each other a knowing smile.

"may i have this dance?"

"dude you sure?"

"yeah of course, who wouldn't want to dance with the brett yang?"

they both chuckle, brett finally accepts eddy's offer and took his hand, directing to the dance floor.

brett rest his hand upon eddy's shoulder. the latter wraps his hand around the boy's waist and pulled him closer. they both sway to the beat from the speaker that echoes across the whole room.

"i can't believe you're gonna leave next year" eddy said honestly. he can't wait any longer, he doesn't want to miss the chance.

"yeah i can't believe it too, it happens so fast" brett replied. he saw how eddy frowned, to which he quickly made up by saying "but hey, we'll still keep in touch right?"

eddy shoots a hopeful look, but then fades away "your gonna be busier once you get out here, i'm pretty sure"

"who said i won't make time for my best friend? c'mon, you think i'll just ditch you like that?"

eddy didn't know what to say. maybe he assumed to hard, he wasn't really expecting anything from brett. but this time, just this time, perhaps he'll believe that everything will turn okay, and everything won't change. it won't last forever, but eddy wants to believe that it will.

"eddy, you know you're precious to me right? i love you, and i'll always be grateful that i met you"

"i know brett, i know"

brett smiles and leans in for a hug. eddy holds him tightly, snuggling on the crook of his neck. he savors this moment between them.

they both stay like that until the end of the dance. eddy let go of that aching feeling when he embraced brett. his heart is relieved.
