I locked the front door behind me and sighed heavily. My whole body was shivering after I had to walk home from the cafe with my notebook in my bag. It wasn't a warm night, however, I felt a little warmer after my conversation with Lando.
The young man did things to me that I can't explain. His blue eyes were something I couldn't get of my mind and his smile was something that made me comfortable.
My apartment was empty and eerily quiet. I used to live in my old home town with both of my parents but ever since my mom passed away a year ago, my dad and I haven't talked much to each other. He was always away, working on something I couldn't know.
He was a quite busy businessman. Despite the fact that he was often away, our relationship was special. He stuck me by through thick and thin. Often, I felt quite lonely when I was home, but there was nothing I could do about it. I didn't have anybody who lived close by to talk to or confide in if I ever needed a shoulder to cry on.
The house was quiet ever since my mom passed away. My dad struggled a lot with his job the past year, he was more often away but he also didn't want to leave me alone in the house.
Every time when I had to walk inside and not seeing my mom with a cup of tea on the couch killed me. The quietness killed me. My dad was a strong man and I had never seen him cry until the day of my mother's death. My mom was a fighter despite knowing her final days were coming closer.
This mainly was the reason why I had to move out of that house and be independent on my own in my own flat in another city. I finally began to accept that my mother wasn't coming back and time did make everything better.
I started to live like her. She always told me she wanted to see Oceania, that's why I went travelling on my monthly break to fulfil her dreams. Maybe it was a coincidence Lando and I met or maybe it was fate, I don't know, but I'm glad I did.
I dropped my university books on the kitchen counter and made myself a cup of coffee before jumping on the couch. I buried myself under a blanket and turned on the tv for some background noise. I got my phone and scrolled through my Instagram timeline.
My thumb liked a few pictures of people I knew. The only people I really followed were celebrities or old friends from my hometown.
My timeline soon became boring so instead, I navigated my way to the Explore page on Instagram. I preferred to see what photos appeared on this feed instead of my own. I bit on my lip; the same usual photos from fan accounts of the people I followed. The same slime videos and recipe ideas flashed up on my screen. I sighed, almost about to lock my phone when a photo of a man in a blue race suit caught my attention. I clicked on the image and my heart began to race inside my chest.
Lando Norris. It was him. The one that made my mind go crazy the last couple of days. I looked at his face and admired his features. His blue eyes glowed in the light. I clicked on his profile. Formula 1 Driver @McLaren. His biography said. His profile page was filled with pictures of him in blue race suits and orange cars. So he was a professional race driver?
I pressed some other pictures and a smile grew on my lips until I accidentally pressed the 'follow' button on the top of the screen. I gasped and my hand flew to my mouth. "Shit" I muttered.
I closed my eyes and I hit my hand against my head a couple of times. How could I be so stupid? I couldn't unfollow him now since he probably already got the notification on his phone.
I groan. Hopefully, he wouldn't notice it is truly me and he would think it is just some sort of fan. But a sudden notification on the top of my phone caught my attention.
