"Now that we've bought all the things you need for now, we shall begin your training," the High Lord said, making me almost choke on the ice cream crepe he gave me as he handed a bill to the vendor. "Keep the change," he told him and motioned at our group to get going, whilst the vendor thanked him repeatedly.
Just how much was that bill that the vendor thanked him like that? I quickly chewed on the crepe and swallowed, wiping the corner of my mouth with my hand. "Right now, Sir?"
"Yes," he answered with a simple nod. "Don't worry. We will just go through the basics of handling zerfara for now."
"Oh, okay." I took another bite of the crepe and winced as the coldness of the ice cream crept on my teeth, yet continued munching. "But Sir, may I ask what kind of transportation devices are used in Luminozenko?"
"Well, on land, the most common are carriages. We have several types of them, some are powered by magic and some are pulled by horses." the High Lord explained. "In Winacellu, where most of the people live in high places, the carriages are powered by magic and pulled by pegasi at the same time."
My mouth flapped open. "You have pegasi here?"
"Yes, we do." He smiled. "You'll see a lot of them later and some other magical creatures. However, here we usually use just horses. While some of those who have familiars use their magical creatures to travel and those who have wings, well, use their wings. On the waters, we have boats, ships, and ferries to travel. And another type of carriages developed to be used underwater and to be pulled by magical creatures that lived underwater."
"Woah." I glanced at the river beside us, expecting to see an underwater carriage, but all I could see were vendors' boats. I took another bite of my crepe.
This world's magical innovation is way higher than I thought.
"Then, there's another type of transportation device that only nobles or important people usually use," the High Lord continued. "Portals. If you get into the academy, you can experience going from place to place through portals. But for now, we will be going to the training field by wings."
"Ah, then we'll follow you to the Fortress later, Your Grace," Sir Lakovan declared, put his hand over his heart, and bent himself to a bow.
Fortress? I munched on my crepe, biting larger than earlier, making Morris beside me blink in shock. I sent her a questioning look.
"Now I'm getting hungry," Delaney commented from beside her and stared down at my food. "I should have accepted the High Lord's treat earlier."
"Oh," I extended my crepe at him, "want some?"
He waved a hand in dismissal. "No, it's alright. I'll just get some food later. Thank you for the offer, though. Unlike someone here, who barely even gives me food," he whispered to me, leaning a bit and glancing at Morris.
Morris pulled a face. "Shut up, you shit," she demanded, but he only snickered.
"But I want to watch her train," Sir Dallas complained, gesturing a hand to me and his lion tail whipped behind him.
The Headmaster sighed and shook his head. "No, Dallas. I need you to check the outskirts of Lementa to make sure the Sentries are doing their job."
"They are adults, Your Grace," Sir Dallas said. "They can take care of themselves."
"Adults that can't do their jobs properly and that's why they never get promoted." Sir Rupert heaved a sigh. "We'll get going, Your Grace," he told the High Lord and shifted his brown gaze to me. "Welcome to Luminozenko and may the Gods bless you, Cyan." With that, he turned away and took off.
