Luke

I kissed Luke on the cheek before I left to go to y/bf/n's house. She supposedly needed my help to paint her bedroom. Reagan, or Boo, as Luke calls her, was playing with her toys in her room so I just shouted a goodbye and left.

I jumped into my car, quickly turning on the heat, seeing as it was 32 degrees in Melbourne. Pulling out of the driveway I took one last look at my house just in time to see Luke carrying Reagan in his arms, both waving goodbye. This always happened. They always made a big deal of me going anywhere. Even to the grocery store. Luke said it was because they loved me. Which probably was true but it was also because I cleaned, I cooked, I did the laundry. So basically their life without me would be terrible.

I rang the doorbell to y/bf/n's house and waited patiently. I tapped my foot to a beat I just came up with and hummed a little too. I could hear footsteps on the other side of the door and seconds later it swung open, revealing a very ecstatic woman. My best friend. She quickly pulled me inside and took my jacket, throwing it somewhere in the house.

I was led into her bedroom that had all the supplies laid out on the floor.
"Let's get to work, shall we?" She questioned. I wrapped my fingers around a roller and delicately placed it in the paint. Once I gathered enough paint, I began rolling it onto the wall. Y/bf/n picked a dark blue. Almost the color of the ocean. She said she wanted to wake up every morning to something that felt like the beach.

We were halfway done and my mind started drifting away. I started thinking about Luke and Reagan and what they might be doing right now. I started to not pay attention to what I was doing and it resulted in me getting paint on my shirt. Y/bf/n just started giggling at my clumsiness. I groan and finished off my wall. When y/bf/n finished hers we both sat down in the middle of the room, admiring our work.

"Well this has been fun but I have to go. Luke probably burned the house down trying to make cereal." We exchanged our goodbyes and I walked down the stairs and retrieved my coat, which somehow made it to the living room. I threw it on and opened the door, letting myself out of her house. I jumped into the car, quickly starting it and pulling out of the driveway.

In less then 10 minutes I arrived home. The house seemed to be in one piece but I braced myself for what the interior might look like. I unlocked the door and quietly walked inside. No movement was heard. I scanned the room and my eyes quickly fell on the two sleeping bodies on the couch. They rustled in their sleep before both waking up. I walked in front of them and smiled.

Reagan was the first to speak between the two, "We tried to wait for you to come home momma, but we fell asleep." She giggled, probably thinking of when Luke passed out before her. My eyes transferred to Luke and he gave me a shy smile.
"Thank you" I smiled and kissed Reagan on the top of the head and moved to Luke and pecked his lips.
"I love you both."
