Prologue Part 6: Darkside

Arthur: Being indecisive? Is that really so frightening?

After speaking to them, you heard the voice once more.

???: You want friendship. You want to broaden your horizons. You're afraid of being indecisive. Your adventure begins in the dead of night. Your road won't be easy, but a rising sun awaits your journey's end. The day you will open the door is both far off and very near.

There is a flash of light and you find yourself on a platform of a sleeping woman clutching a rose. You walk across the platform and are surrounded by Shadows. You defeat them all as quick as you could and a light shines down, producing a glowing green circle, power radiating from it. You stand on the green circle and your cuts and bruises heal. The light splits off toward the edge of the platform and stairs of stained glass appear. You run up the stairs onto another platform depicting a woman in a yellow dress and a hideous monster.

???: The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes.

You turn around and saw your shadow move after you do. You start to back away as the shadow pulls itself from the ground, revealing its true form. It became a massive, muscular, humanoid monster with black skin. Its legs are rather short and its feet are very thin and curl upward. Its arms are quite long, and it has two relatively small, twisted wings on its back. There is a large, heart-shaped hole in the Heartless's abdominal area, which penetrates straight through from the front to the back. Its head is covered in dozens of twisted, black tentacles. Only its small, glowing yellow eyes are visible.

???: But don't be afraid. And don't forget...

You run to the edge of the platform, nearly falling off. You turn to face Darkside as it rises to its full towering height, gazing at you with eerie glowing eyes. The sword appears in your hands and you stare at it, getting ready for combat. Darkside summons a ball of energy and punches the floor. You tremble as a void of darkness appears in the floor, summoning several Shadows. You attack them, while dodging larger blows from Darkside. As it punches the ground again, You seize the opportunity and strike at its wrist.

Catching its attention, You jump back and the sword vanishes from your hand. Terror fills your face as you are left weaponless and Darkside slams its fist into the ground, narrowly missing you. You fall in defeat and a dark void appears under you, sucking you in.

???: But don't be afraid.

The darkness engulfs your legs.

???: You hold the mightiest weapon of all.
