2063 A.F
(After-Fall)
Location: Shipping docks
Time: 23:47
Project reached up and climbed on top of the nearest shipping container, which allowed him to look over the expansive port. The raging storm and heavy rain made it hard to see, but lucky for him, his objective was lit up on his H.U.D. A single container sat away from the others by at least six feet. He hopped off the container and carefully approached his objective, each footstep splashed in the thin layer of water accumulating on the concrete ground. The container was locked via a Holo-Tablet on the side. He would need to hack his way in, or, his personal favorite. Brute force his way in.
"I hope you have a permit!"
The voice called out to him from the darkness around. Project's suit triangulated the voice to a location on top of a double stacked container, but there was nobody there. His mission was time sensitive so he had no time for games, he flicked through his suits onboard inventory system and decided what weapon to use.
"Ksg-9, Mp9, MK18, huh, I think I'll use this one."
He selected his most modified AR, chambered in .300blk. His hybrid holo-scope allowed him to use his color-night vision setting in his visor. Immediately the night turned to day, with a bit of a forecast of course. Movement was picked up just outside of his field of view, but his suit detected it. He whirled around to see a man similarly dressed as him standing just a few feet away.
"Identify yourself!"
Project wasted no time and proceeded to assert authority. He may not be Imperium, but this guy surely didn't know that.
"Wow, nice gun. AR platform with an Integral suppressor, angled foregrip, Holo-sight with multiple scanning and projection modes. Yea that's a nice gun, you must be paid. I'm Zero by the way.
The enemy combatant extended his hand for a shake. Project tried to see who this was, but it was hard to tell as his face was obscured by his hood. Project flicked his weapon off safety, nobody would be getting in his way tonight. However, Zero had expected an aggressive response. He drew a submachine gun from his hip, Project dove for cover behind a cement wall. The suppressed submachine gun fired with an incredible rate of fire which shredded Project's cover.
"He's using an Mp7, this guy's well equipped."
Project peaked around the right side of the wall and returned fire, Zero had already grabbed cover. His cover exploded in smoke and debris from the bullet hits. Zero was a great shooter, Project figured he would need to close the gap and bank on him being a bad fighter. He activated his inventory view and selected a flash grenade, he pressed the primer and tossed the grenade. The darkness around them was illuminated with a flash that could rival the two suns this planet orbited. Project used his enhanced strength and agility to climb on top of the container.
"Show yourself Zero!"
A loud boom followed by the loss of feeling in his right arm was all he heard before he flew off of the container and into the cement wall. His right arm slowly began to regenerate, rendering him armless for the time being. Zero rounded the corner with a pump shotgun aimed at him.
"Hey I'll be honest, I've never seen that before. How do you do that?"
He was of course talking about Project's regrowing arm, in response he flipped forward. His erratic movement caused Zero to whiff a shot which blew a hole into the wall behind him. His flip landed him behind Zero, so he promptly grabbed him in a devastating chokehold from behind. The fight would have been over if his neck snap would have worked. Instead he ended up ripping at air, Zero had literally disappeared into thin air.
"What th..."
A painful kick landed across the back of his head, sending him into the pavement face first. Zero pressed his advantage and used his Mp7 and sprayed almost fifty bullets into Project. Zero stepped away from the blood oozing corpse and proceeded towards the container his opponent was originally trying to enter. The keypad turned on as he approached its proximity and he began to type in the code. The screen flashed green, followed by the hissing of mechanical locks retracting and the doors opening. He walked over to the new entrance and peered inside the dark abyss.
"Thought you killed me didn't you?"
Zero flung around and saw Project lunge at him with an all black sword. One he recognized all too well, The Darkshard. Project stabbed the blade through his abdomen which continued to go through the container's wall. The black blade pulsed with pure energy and Zero began to phase in and out of existence. His incorporeal power was in fact feeding the sword. Zero grunted as he tried to move, but Project had him dead to rights against the wall.
"I really really like this sword, cant you tell?"
Project started moving it up, easily cutting through Zero. His torture was cut short when he heard Zero unholster a sidearm, he looked down to see the barrel of a Desert Eagle aimed back at him. The cacophonous gunshot reverberated throughout the container and Project's head was completely ripped apart from the round. His brains scattered the surrounded cement and containers. With a great struggle Zero removed the blade and carefully approached Project's regenerating motionless body.
"This is for my father!"
He sliced down and cut off Project's head which he slowly pressed into the flat portion of the blade. The properties of Voidenite worked as intended and soon the head of Project was no more, with the head gone; the regeneration stopped. Following this, Zero collapsed onto the ground from the blood loss just as sunrise broke through the stormy clouds, he would be fine however. He just needed rest.
