hey I hope you're liking it so far guys bc im enjoying making this ;)))

I sat there in silence. how could this be? It didn't make any sense he was the person on the speaker. maybe he wasn't. maybe he just sounded similar. extremely similar. a voice interrupted my thoughts.

"hey there. elise, right? I'm Sophia. well, I'm actually 739, but I don't really care for their labels."

their labels?

"are you coming to the hall? if we don't go now, all the food will be gone, and I don't know about you, but I haven't had food since Tuesday."

how did she know what day it was?

"are you coming?"

"oh. yeah. sure." I untangled my feet from the sheets and stood up. my legs felt weak. like they hadn't been used for days.

"elise, come on." she spoke with irritation. I couldn't blame her, but then again, I could blame her.

we walked down the long hallways together, side by side. only then did I pay attention to what I was wearing. a lavender gown. like the ones you see in hospitals, but it didn't reveal as much. I wasn't wearing any shoes, although purple socks covered my feet.

when we got to the dinner hall, there was about 500 people. but I distinctly remembered on the first day I woke up, the voice had said there was only 10 patients. in fact, he did say there was over 10 patients, but not 400 over...

"elise." Sophia mumbled.

I looked up, and a man was staring down at me. he looked about 20, but his eyes looked like had been imprisoned for centuries. he looked at his feet, and smiled at me crookedly. he looked sad. he seemed sad. he was sad.

I tried to smile back, but I couldn't. he sighed, and moved out the way, leading me to believe he was a security guard.

Sophia looked at him, and smiled hugely, and he looked at her coldly.

"do not smile." he whispered.

she froze, and the nodded.

I scanned the lunch room, and one familiar face outshine the rest.

amilia.
