Trisha's eyes flitted from her phone to the Greek god standing at a stone's throw away from her. He was still talking with the Brit manager as if he was the best thing that ever happened to this company. Soon, he was off from there. Trisha got an eyeful of him as he deliciously carried himself to his department: Human Resources - the vicious department that is hated globally and is believed to police other departments, stand in their way and suck the happiness out of their lives!
But Trisha wasn't concerned about how dangerous he could be. She was instead carried away at how mouth-wateringly gorgeous he looked, how effortlessly he carried himself around, how fearlessly he voiced his thoughts in his husky voice, his crisp, polished formals, his... God, she was going balmy!
Just then, her cell phone started to ring. Seeing who the call was from, she bit down on her lower lip and suppressed the smirk that was threatening to bellow out of her lungs like a burst of typical villainous laughter. It was Jhanvi, her roommate who was too stubborn to accept the fact that she had a hunk in her office. "Hello?" she answered the call in the most innocent tone she could muster.
"What the hell was that?" she spat from the other end in an incredulous tone.
Trisha had a smug look on her face. "So, believe me now?"
"You want to kill me or what?" she shot back.
Trisha laughed, utterly pleased with herself.
The board line interrupted them. "Hang on," Trisha informed Jhanvi and answered the call. She transferred the call perfectly, just as instructed by Jane and switched back to Jhanvi. "Did I hit... something else...?" she wondered aloud and ran her eyes over the equipment.
"What?" asked Jhanvi from the other end.
She responded incoherently. Everything seemed alright. Everything except the PA system. And her eyes chose NOT to see it. "Anyways, I'm back! So, where were we?"
Meanwhile, her voice blasted out from the speakers in each and every floor. Each and every effing department. Even Jhanvi's voice that followed was loud enough to be heard. The employees exchanged confused glances amongst themselves.
"Are you kidding me?" Jhanvi continued ranting. "Like... is he even real? How can someone look so... so yummy! It's a sin. A crime! He should be booked for mass murder!"
"What!? Why?" Trisha couldn't hold back her laughter.
"Well, that's what he's doing, going around and murdering people with those looks. God, my mouth's watering." Jhanvi swallowed.
"Hey, he's mine," Trisha protested, laughing.
"Yeah, in your dreams," Jhanvi countered.
"In yours!" Trisha warred back.
"Yeah, whatever! By the way, managed to find more about him?"
"Uh-huh, found out his name today."
"Really?"
"Yup." Trisha cleared her throat as she prepared to announce his name pompously. "Siddharth. Siddharth Taneja."
As his name sputtered out the speakers, there was pin drop silence in the HR department. The four-member team, including Siddharth, listened to every single word of the conversation. Thankfully, the HR Director, Mr. Mukherjee was out of station.
"Oh-ho! Too mucccchhh!!!" Jhanvi was literally yelling. "Tell me that you're blushing."
"Um. Maybe." Trisha giggled shyly.
"Aha! I knew it! I don't have to see you to know what state you're in girl!"
"Yeah, right. And hey, most of them call him Sid, especially those who share a rapport with him."
"But you're not 'most of them', are you?"
Trisha chuckled proudly, as if they were a happening couple already.
"So, how will you address him? Sid? Siddharth? ST? Siddharth Ji? Or Dudley-dums?"
"Dudley-dums? What the fuck?" Siddharth ogled at the speaker as he mouthed the words.
"Um, I don't know yet." Trisha fidgeted in her chair.
"Something will pop up in time, right?"
"Yeah."
Jhanvi let out a deep, dreamy sigh. "Ah! Siddharth Taneja. Sexy!"
"By the way, he's the HR Officer," Trisha informed.
"Uffoh! Too much! Dangerously sexy!"
"And... um..." Trisha paused, wondering whether to say it or not.
"And um what?"
"He'll pass your 'nice ass' test in flying colours."
The entire office echoed with Jhanvi's loud cackle.
Having the cell phone stuffed into her ears, Trisha doesn't quite catch the subtle difference between real and reel. "Dammit, you sound like a banshee, man. Your laughter is literally echoing out here."
Jhanvi cackled some more. "Just ask him out, girl. Just ask him out."
"Are you crazy? No way." Trisha blushed hard.
"Why not? Just walk up to him and ask him out, like for lunch or something. That simple."
"Yeah, right."
"Or just kick up a casual conversation," she suggested.
"I wish I could, but my tongue has a mind of its own. It just won't move when he's around."
"Snake it with his, girl. Just blow his brains out!" Jhanvi blasted.
Trisha laughed out loud.
"God, I don't know what you're doing there. I would have kissed him by now." Jhanvi drooled.
"Seriously we're nuts, sitting around and fantasizing like this." Trisha leaned back with a loud creak and laughed her heart out.
Suddenly, a truck crashed into her.
Actually, it was Jane.
"What the devil, Trisha! Have you lost it!!!?" Her blue eyes were ready to pop.
"W-what happened, Jane?" Trisha was surprised. She held her phone close to her chest.
"The entire office could hear your... whatever! That's what happened!!" She gnashed her teeth and banged her fist over the PA system, turning it off.
"Oh, shit!" Trisha whimpered. "It was on? But how..."
"My foot!!!" Jane blasted. She actually wanted to say bullshit. "I want you in my cabin right now!" Saying this, she swung around and stomped away.
"No... oh no... oh-no-no-no-no-no-nooooo!!!" Trisha was dying!
"What? What happened?" Jhanvi screamed frantically.
"Kill me! Just kill me! I want to die! I so want to die!"
"But what happened?"
"They heard everything! Every single fucking thing!" Trisha couldn't even open her eyes.
"Wha --- wait! What do you mean by 'they'? And heard what?" Jhanvi panicked.
"They! My office! Everyone heard it. Every single thing we said!" As she whined, she turned to the PA system once again. "Hope this shit is not on," she whimpered like a puppy.
"But how!!!?" Jhanvi feared at how much of their censored chat was heard by people.
"Shit! I want to hide! I want to die! Under my table. Somewhere! Oh God, just kill me already!" Trisha grappled her own throat.
"No wait..." Jhanvi attempted to calm her down.
Suddenly, Trisha's heart stopped. The one person she didn't want to see now was heading right to her table. "Oh my God! No-no! He's coming! He's coming-he's coming- he's coming!!!!"
"Who? The Greek god?"
"Yessss!!!"
