WARNING! Swearing!

Hope y'all enjoy!

Aubrey goes silent, and for a while, things stay just like that. Aubrey continuing to organize the room, trying to find a place for the hundreds of books within it while I sit on the sideline, not knowing what to do.

Alex... Edward...

Our main goal was to take out the vampire king. For years, we searched for our target, spending so much energy and time on it. Maybe now I'll be able to rest easier knowing that our purpose may finally be achieved. They wouldn't have died in vain. In the end, their deaths would mean something. But to me, they've always meant something.

Oh Alex, Edward; I'm so sorry. Things were never supposed to turn out that way. Eventually, you both should have retired and moved on to have families. To have grown old with the ones you loved. It's all my fault, I'm the one who decided to try and eradicate the vampires rather than wait it out and plan. Even when Alexander tried to change my mind, I continued to be stubborn. I'm so sorry.

"So...," Aubrey starts, pulling me from my thoughts. "Vick, I've been curious. Do you happen to know how vampires came to be?"

"What makes you think there's a story behind that?"

"All supernaturals have a beginning, as humans do. Even witches and vampires."

I tilt my head, interested.

"I always figured that all supernaturals sort of popped up. Plus, I don't really believe in those types of things."

"Ahh, I see. Ironic, is it not? Your kind, as well as my own, are considered to not be real, and yet here you are not believing in our own stories. You would think after learning the truth, one would accept anything they hear."

"I'm different," I reply through a tight lipped smile.

"Well, I'm a sucker for them. I find them so interesting and cool. Imagine being the first of a new species; it must be terrifying and amazing all at once."

"I guess. I think it would be absolutely terrifying and nothing more. Just out of curiosity, what is the witch's story?"

Aubrey sends me a knowing smile. She senses the interest behind my dull tone. Even though I would never admit it, I actually do like hearing the stories.

"A long time ago, the first witch was born. You see, all human beings have magic within them, but it's either not powerful enough to show or the human doesn't believe in magic. In order for magic to be real, you have to believe in it. Along with being extremely powerful, she considered such things to be true and got sucked into that life. She raised her children to believe as well, them becoming witches along with her. They went on to have their own children and pass on the genes until hundreds of witches existed all over the world. Unlike any other supernatural, witches are all distantly related."

"Interesting. And to answer your previous question, yes; there is a story. When I was a newborn, a vampire I was with at the time told me."

"Well, let's hear it then."

Marie sits in the corner opposite of me, studying my physique. The rest were sent off to hunt-or kidnap I should say-and murder. They couldn't just leave their prisoner alone, so Marie was left behind as a guard. I can't pick up any detection of resentment or negative feelings from her aura, but I'm sure she's bitter. Hunting is her favorite past time after all.

"Vick," she suddenly speaks up, breaking the stillness.

I give her no reply other then slightly tilting my head in her direction, never quite making eye contact.
