I heard voices. Slowly the memories came back to me. The fires, the heat... My free days and Aliyaah... Wait a minute. Was I kidnapped? Wow. I sharpened my senses. Moist air, rotten smell, a bed under me. No chains of any kind. What kind of kidnapper was smart enough to get me, but so dumb to leave me free on a bed?
I saw a light behind my eyes. I slowly opened my eyes, without moving (to not appear suspicious). I saw two men and three women sitting around a table, softly murmuring with each other. This place looked just the way it felt: like a basement. I needed my glasses; I couldn't see the people...
"Hey! She's awake!" how did they know that? No way they could have felt that, only masters of our magic can- Ah. Of course. Aliyaah was right.
I got up from the bed and stretched myself out. Whatever they gave me to pass out so quickly, it made my muscles sore and painful. On a table next to the bed I saw my glasses, so I put them on. I saw the Five Masters, all smiling at me. I looked them straight in the eyes, one by one.
"Secret mission time?" I asked. They did not even look surprised. "Yes, darling," said Juliana, the oldest woman (although you wouldn't say so if you'd see her), "Take a seat, please." I pulled back a chair between her and the king, Aliyaah's father, and sat down.
"So... What's up?" I asked. The king took the floor. "We're having a problem, Diana," he started explaining, "One of us got lost." I looked at all of them with raised eyebrows. I hate it when you have to pull all the information out of people. "Got lost?" I ask, "You'll have to be a little bit more specific about that to expect me to help you out here. Can you tell me the whole story in one time, because I am not in the mood to ask a hundred and one questions here." I could hear master Anja mumble something about a spoiled brat under her breath. I couldn't stand her. I looked her right in the eyes and said "Please, master Anja, explain to me what's going on." She looked at me with a poisonous glance, sighed and began the story.
"18 years ago, two people of ours went into the world on a mission to defeat a creature that did not belong there. They knew the risks. We assumed they had died, because they did not return back to our beloved island. Neither did they do their job of killing the creature, of course, so now that beast went loose. Not long ago we picked up strange amounts of magic energy around the city of Brussels. It turns out that our warriors did not die. They had a boy instead. A boy, who is not capable of controlling his powers, as his parents never taught him anything, never mentioned his high and powerful blood-," "That's enough master Anja," interrupted the king with a strict voice, "It is our job to protect this boy, Diana, no matter what. Not long ago his powers started evolving, what caused the magic power sources to rise. We only want the best for this job. We want you." I looked at him. "Protect him against what?" I asked. The masters looked at each other. "We don't know," they said. Oh, they did know. They simply didn't want to tell me because it would scare me off, hm? I was a vulnerable little girl, who lost their parents due to "unknown reasons" again? Well, I wasn't scared. I was going. This island was way too boring. "I'm in," I said. I was going to regret this so much...
"Great then!" they called out, "Well, you know everything you have to know, then! We'll send out right now! Good luck!"
Wait a minute, right now? But I didn't pack my things, I didn't say goodbye to my friends, what will they think? Why such a hurry? I had to tell them to wait... But right when I opened my mouth to argue the king touched my forehead and I was gone. It felt like lightning struck me, a blinding pain ran through my nerves and it hurt everywhere... I could never get used to traveling like this. After a few seconds I passed out.a/n: hello again! my apologies that i can't keep my promise of posting every day :)
