DIANA
I look out of the window and admire Paris' cute and high apartments. They never seem less romantic since we've come here a few months back. After Milo had finished school, we decided to travel the world. Milo follows online classes from the University of Brussels and I spend my time planning our trips, baking and drawing. We make quite a good team. From time to time Milo still suffers from his anxiety, but his mental health has improved a lot since he got out of high school. That was rough. Not only did his brother suffer for months, being possessed by a demon and all, but he also suffered by himself, keeping his thoughts to himself until it completely ate him up.
"Ey, Di, you ready?" I heard Milo from the other room. "Yeah, yeah, almost..." I said while hurrying to put on the new dress (it was a surprise for Milo). Note that my hair still wasn't dry and wrapped in a towel, I haven't put on makeup yet and didn't decide which earrings I should wear... Damnit, my shoes! The blue vintage ones would fit my dress, but they always make my feet bleed. Ah, well, I'll put on some precautional bandaids. I see Milo's head peeking around the corner of the room. "Hey, you're not ready yet!" he notices. He doesn't look surprised. I give him a dead stare. "Okay, okay," he goes, "but don't complain to me if we're late..." "We won't be late," I tell him.
We were late. Very late. Two hours to be exact. It wasn't my fault... Well alright, maybe it was. It went like this:
We decided to walk to the restaurant, because cabs ar so expensive. Of course we were already late, so when we went outside Milo turned around to see me putting on my heels, as I didn't want to use them on the stairs (4 étages, no thank you). When I was ready, he held out his hand and I took it with a smile. Good thing that he grew a lot in the last year of high school, so that he was still higher than me, even when I was in heels. A girl's dream came true. We walked together in the direction of the restaurant. We've been official for 2 years now. Time to celebrate, right? I got him just the right present. He has no idea what he got into. Halfway our route Milo stopped and gestured at me to come in a little alley. I threw him a strange look. He waved it away and smiled reassuringly at me. We had stopped on a square, garlands of little lampion lights shone above our heads. There was no one around us, but the warmth of a summer evening and the sound of the murmuring fountain in the middle of the square. It was so romantic. Ahh he knows I love this stuff, I love him so-
I turned around and saw that Milo had sunk on one knee. Oof. Wow. Wait a minute... The soft sound of a string quartet filled the place, and I turned around and saw four players with violins looking out of a window. I turned back to Milo, smiling. "You idiot!" I told him, and I opened my bag to reveal a a small box, on my turn sinking on my knee in front of him and opening it, to reveal a ring. Milo looked perplexed. "You'll never stop surprising me, Di," he said, tears started rolling down his cute cheeks. "Never," I replied, and as happy emotional tears filled my eyes too, I asked him: "Well? Didn't you want to ask me something?"
He asked me to marry him. And I said yes.
ALIYAAH
"Next!"
I sigh. We've been here for over 2 hours now and I'M BORED. "Dad, hasn't it been enough? This is stupid." I say. My dad gives me a strict look. "Choosing your future isn't stupid, Aliyaah, this is a tradition that every princess has to go through," he tells me. For the 173928th time. "First of all," I begin, "my future husband isn't my future, I make my own future. My love life will never have anything to do with my career as queen, and it will not come in the way. Second, this is stupid. I'm 18. No way in hell am I getting married now, especially not with one of these idiots." Some guys look up and I throw them a poisonous glance. "I need no man to rule this island." I spoke my last sentence with loud voice, because it was meant for the whole throne hall, and left.
