BROOKLYN AND VINNIE has decided to go on a date at the arcade, something simple that both of them loved, since they both enjoyed playing fortnite into the wee hours of the night, vinnie carrying brooklyn the entire time but he didn't mind because they were doing it together.
they had been playing games for the past 2 hours and decided to take a break to eat "cmon let's go to the restaurant upstairs." he took her hand into his and guided her to the mall entrance of the arcade.
the two went up the escalators and towards the restaurant that vinnie was talking about, it was a laid back one that was sort of dinerish.
one of brooklyn's favorite things about vinnie was that he knew she wasn't the fancy type of girl, she was laid back and always wanted to do things herself, like the time she climbed up a tree to get his kite and almost broke her arm, or the time that she decided they'd go mud tubing for no apparent reason other than it sounded messy and messy was always fun for her.
vinnie adored her because of it, it was like he was dating his best friend that didn't mind getting her hands dirty every once in awhile. mainly because of how many boys she grew up with.
as the two sat down at a table and their hostess gave them two menus, they began to joke around and laugh with each other, since they could never stay serious when it came to restaurants.
vinnie has his head buried in his menu while brooklyn admires the small jukebox sat on their table, tracing it out as a girl tapped her shoulder "oh! hi i didn't mean to startle you!" the blonde's eyes widened and brooklyn turned around to face a girl who's appearance left her dumbfounded.
the girl's hair was a beautiful blonde, her soft locks tucked up into a messy ponytail that seemed effortlessly gorgeous, she had two strands of her hair framing her face. she had tiny freckles dotting the bridge of her nose and spilling over onto her cheeks, her bright blue oceany eyes staring at brooklyn kindly as she repeated what she had just asked.
"are you ready to order yet? i can wait a few more minutes if you aren't!" the girl rambled nervously, and brooklyn assumed it was her first day "oh yeah- im ready. can i have a cheeseburger with fries and a coke?" brooklyn asked and the girl nodded, looking over at vinnie who was still staring at his menu.
"vinnie? you ready?" brooklyn asked, although after she did she immediately wished she hadn't.
vinnie set down his menu and looked up at the girl and brooklyn immediately felt uneasy, his lips immediately parted and a small gasp of surprise escaped his lips. he was staring at her as if she was a present he'd been waiting a long time for and finally received.
"uh- yeah. i'll have the same thing." he mumbled and the blonde nodded, smiling brightly at the couple "okay! your order will be ready soon!" she assured them, collecting the menus and jogging away towards the kitchen.
vinnie was frowning slightly at his lap, as if there were a million things on his mind but none of them seemed to make sense to him.
"vin?" brooklyn called out quietly, making his head snap up to look at hers, the frown instantly wiping off his face as if it were never there "are you okay?" she asked and he nodded quickly "yeah- i just.. feel a little dizzy." he lied and brooklyn slowly nodded, noticing the lie immediately since he wasn't the greatest at it.
after a little while of an uncomfortable silence, the blonde came back with their food and drinks, a bright smile on her face as she set it down "enjoy! just call me if you need anything!" she smiled and started to walk away, but not before brooklyn got a glimpse of her name tag, making her heart sink a little more.
heather she repeated over and over in her mind for the rest of the day. brooklyn just wished she knew how much that name would affect her life.
