BROOKLYN WAS SAT on a bench outside of her favorite book store. she had been reading for the past two hours and now she was finally going to pack up so she could go home.
as she placed all her books in her bag and zipped it up, placing it on her backpack, she plugged her earphones into her phone, then placed them snugly in her ears, clicking play on her favorite playlist.
as she started to walk to cross the street a hand suddenly grabbed her backpack and yanked her backwards so hard she fell on top of the person.
she watched with wide eyes as the bus shot past her, she had forgotten to look before she crossed.
she looked behind her and spotted heather underneath her. she scrambled off of her quickly, staring with wide eyes "oh my god, are you okay?" heather asked frantically, causing brooklyn to nod, dumbfounded.
"wh-what happened?" brooklyn asked and heather looked at the road "you crossed without looking. that bus was about to hit you and i couldn't just stand here and watch you get hit like everyone else." heather explained and brooklyn nodded slowly, standing up and dusting off her pants "well um.. thank you heather." brooklyn thanked and heather smiled brightly as she stood up.
"of course brooklyn! you know i've actually been looking for you, i wanted to ask if you and your friends would wanna come to my birthday party!" she asked, a bright hopeful glint in her eyes as brooklyn frowned confusedly.
"but- we aren't friends?" brooklyn said slowly, as if she was trying to convince herself that as well "oh, i know, but i want us to be! plus nobody deserves to be left out of a birthday celebration, it's just cruel." heather expressed her distaste for people who didn't try to invite their whole grade to their birthday party. minus the ones who got bullied or anything, heather also despised bullies, so at school she tried her best to stop any bullying she saw.
brooklyn's heart sank with every word that heather said, because she could see that jayden was right. it was hard to hate a girl who was just so nice.
but how could i hate her?
