I came back around 11:55 PM so I'd have 5 minutes to get situated. I came across the manager walking out. "Countin' on ya." He said with a two-fingered salute. He tossed me the keys. "Lock her up once ya get inside." He said, pointing at the restaurant with his thumb. I nodded with a smile and walked inside. I locked the doors behind me and walked to the security office.
As soon as it hit midnight, the answering machine rang. I picked up the phone attached to it. "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza." I said. "Hello, hello? Uh, I wanted to record a message for you to help you get settled in on your first night. Um, I actually worked in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact. So, I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you there's nothing to worry about. You'll do fine! So, let's just focus on getting you through your first week. Okay?
Uh, let's see, first there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read. Uh, it's kind of a legal thing, you know." He cleared his throat. "Um, 'Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza!: A magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon as property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced-'Blah blah blah, now that might sound bad, I know, but there's really nothing to worry about. Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit... quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children so show them a little respect, alright? Okay.
So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night. Uh...Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was The Bite of '87. Yeah. I-It's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?
Uh, now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours probably won't recognize you as a person. They'll p-most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Now since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to...forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit. Um, now, normally that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices... 'specially around the facial area. So, you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort...and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask, heh.
Y-Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up." The message continued. "Goddamn right they don't!" I said, knowing he couldn't hear me. "But hey, first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow. Uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power. Alright, good night." The message explained then hung up. I placed the phone on the number pad. "Hmph. I'm starting to wish this place had a 'Bring Your Shotgun to Work Day'--Jesus." I said to myself. I sat in a leather office chair and picked up an iPad laying on it.
I turned it on and searched through the cameras to ensure safety of animatronics and equipment. As soon as I looked at Pirate cove, I saw a sign in front of the curtain. Sorry!
Out of order.I shrugged it off and skipped through the other cameras. I came back to the one I started at, the one pointing to the main three animatronic characters. I noticed the purple rabbit was gone. "Bollocks." I whispered. I immediately searched through the cameras rigorously. There the little bastard was, in the hallway. I could see his silhouette. Suddenly, the camera went black.
I looked over at my power display, a small monitor showing how much gasoline the generator had left for tonight. 38%. I checked my watch. 4:27 AM. I exhaled a sigh of relief when the camera came back on. "Oh god, he's gone." I said. I checked the other cameras to find him, he wasn't in any. I slowly looked left into the pitch black darkness of the left hallway. I could feel sweat dripping off my chin. I pressed the light button and the hallway lit with a blue-ish glow. There was a large purple rabbit looking me straight in the eye. It felt like someone dumped a bowl of half-melted ice cubes down the back of my shirt. "Yeahhhhhh... I'm just gonna close the door, now." I said, pressing the door button. He pressed his face against the glass window. I waved, hoping he wouldn't break it. He waved back. I looked at my watch. 4:50 AM.
I looked back at the animatronic staring at me through the window. "Seems pretty friendly, hard to believe he's trying to shove me in a suit. But Jesus, add some 'brows by the very least." I thought. I pulled out my iPhone and called Dezi. After a long ring, he finally picked up. "Ty. It's almost five in the fuckin' morning. What do you want?" He said. "I know. But hey, the manager skipped out on some bollocks I should know. The animatronics here are gonna kill me if they get to me." I explained. I could tell Dezi became worried. "H-how so?" He finally said. "Bad facial recognition software makes them see me as the metal thing inside of them, that's against the rules here, for a metal endoskeleton to not have a costume on." I explained. "How would that harm you in ANY possible way?" Dezi asked. I pressed the 'play' button on the answering machine. "Um, now, normally this wouldn't be so bad if the suits them selves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires and animatronic devices... 'specially around the facial area." I paused it. Dezi was silent. "I-I-I dunno what to say... Oh my god..." He managed. "It's oka-" I started. "NO! You've been the closest thing of a son to me, I'm not letting that go unanswered!" Dezi interrupted. I had no words. "You HAVE to quit that job." He continued. "I'll see what I can do." I said. "Thank you. Be safe, Ty." Dezi replied. "I will, Da- DEZI. Sorry, *clears throat*. Dezi." I said. We said our goodbyes and hung up.
I sighed. I heard a chime and looked up at the clock above the left doorway. 6:00 AM! I turned on the doorlight and saw no sign of Bonnie. I opened the door and walked out of the restaurant, on my way out I saw the animatronics all in their right places. I immediately stormed out as soon as I saw the manager pull into the parking lot.
Time to get a few answers.
