On the Jet

Brooklyn was the last to board the jet, choosing a seat next to Spencer, who offered her a sheepish smile. He thought she was attractive, reminding him much of his late girlfriend, and that thought caused him to frown.

"Hey, what's up Spence?" Brooklyn asked. The look in her eye proved that she was concerned, but Spencer just shook his head. She patted his shoulder and got situated on the couch, eagerly waiting to discuss more details about the case.

"This is about a six-hour plane ride, so you all have about four hours until we discuss the case" Hotch announced. With that, shifted his body to look out the window.

Hotch's POV

Brooklyn chose to sit next to Reid, which was not too surprising, as he wasn't very intimidating. You overheard her call him Spence, which struck a chord with him. Spence? No one called him that... And why were you even worrying about that? You shook it off as you peered out the window, over hearing Brooklyn and Reid's laughter. You caught yourself staring at them a little to long, as Rossi interrupted your thoughts.

"See something you like?" He teased.

You simply rolled your eyes and opened the case file, deciding to review it again.

Brooklyn's POV

Spencer and I talked the whole plane ride, mostly about the random facts he knew, and me laughing at him for knowing them. I noticed Hotch staring at us a few times, and I just assumed he was trying to profile the new girl. We arrived in LA at around 5pm, giving us just a few hours to set up at the station before heading to our hotel. We had to double up for rooms, and with JJ and Emily immediately selecting each other, I felt awkward.

"Brooklyn, you can room with me if you'd like" Hotch offered, and I shifted awkwardly. I didn't know too much about Hotch, and I think Spencer noticed my uneasiness.

"Oh no, Brooklyn and I already discussed that we'd room together if it came to it" Spencer grinned at me, then turned to Hotch. Hotch nodded in approval, although his eyes seemed to get darker. Odd.

Hotch handed Emily and JJ their key, then handing Spencer your key, before taking off down the hallway with Rossi.

"Ok, we are room 107, across from the girls and next to the guys" Spencer informed you. You nodded and followed him down the hallway.

"See you guys in the morning!" you said to the rest of the team, before you all disappeared into your rooms.

As you walked into the room, the first thing you noticed was that there was one bed. You were relieved when you saw a couch, immediately walking over to it before plopping your bag down. You met Spencer's eyes, him examining the scene with a look of disapproval.

"Come on, you can take the bed" he reasoned, but you quickly shut him down.

"No, its ok. I prefer the couch" Spencer was lanky, and you knew the couch wouldn't be comfortable for him.

He studied your face before shrugging and heading into the bathroom to shower. You were exhausted, so you just changed into some pj shorts and a big tee, laying down on the couch and quickly dozing off.

Spencer's POV

As I walked out of the bathroom, I found Brooklyn fast asleep on the couch. She was a cute sleeper, but I knew I couldn't think about her in that way. I saw the look in Hotch's eye when I said we were bunking together, and he did not seem pleased. I sighed as I slid under the covers quietly, making sure not to wake her. I shut off the light and quickly fell asleep.

2am

I was awoken by a whisper and a light shake, opening my eyes to see Brooklyn standing over me. I was a bit confused, as I could tell by the room's lighting that it was not time to get up yet.

"Hey Brooklyn, what's wrong?" I asked concerned. She nervously fiddled with the sleeve of her shirt.

"I... I um.. had a nightmare" she looked down in embarrassment. I looked at her confused, and she soon caught onto my expression.

"Not to be weird, but I was wondering if I could sleep in the bed with you." she still looked flushed. "I just don't think I can go back to sleep alone, but if you feel uncomfortable with it I can manage" she put up a forced smile.

"No, no of course, climb on in." I slid to the other side of the bed, giving her plenty of room.

"Thanks Spence" She laid down next to me, and I offered her my hand to hold. She took it gladly, and soon we were both asleep.
