Namjoon asked Jungkook as he saw him walking over. He was enjoying the breakfast that Jin had prepared. Namjoon and Jin had been living with Jungkook and Jimin for almost two months. This was all because of Jin; he insisted on staying with Jimin and wanted to take care of him.
"Hyolyn called me."
Jungkook tells Namjoon that Hyolyn cried while calling him. She is asking Jungkook to meet her. It's been 3 months since they last heard anything about Hyolyn. Jungkook gives his full trust to the police to solve Jimin's accident case, but he is still taking precautions for the safety of his family. He cannot anticipate what Hyolyn might do to his family, especially to Jimin.
"You need to tell Mr. Lee about this."
Mr. Lee is the person who is in charge of Jimin's case. Namjoon advises Jungkook to report everything related to Hyolyn to Mr. Lee. Namjoon knows Jungkook very well; he has been with Jungkook since he was 15. He understands Jungkook's life and temperament, as Jungkook likes to solve problems face-to-face and on his own.
"But, hyung..."
"No, Jungkook. You can't meet her alone.
"I know her. She will not hurt me."
"You're stupid. You said you know her? She hurt your husband, Jungkook. How can you seem okay with it? Jimin is paralyzed because of her. And now, you want to see her? For what? What if she hurts you?"
"I believe she did not mean it. She will not hurt anyone. She is a good girl."
Namjoon looked startled for a moment and then composed himself. That must be something that Jungkook hides from him.
"Did you love her?"
"NO!" Jungkook furiously shook his head. "I-I'm not."
"I don't know what to say. You seem like you always give an excuse for Hyolyn. How can you say that she's a good girl when she is the mastermind who purposely hit Jimin with a car?"
"Hyung..."
"She..."
"She what?"
"She's not..."
Jungkook didn't know how to explain it to Namjoon.
"She's..."
"Oh my goodness, Jungkook, tell me!"
Namjoon's level of patience was declining. If Jungkook hadn't explained it to him, he would have hit Jungkook's stupid head.
"She's not in good condition."
"What do you mean?"
"She's not stable. I mean, her mind."
Jungkook's words confused Namjoon. He still couldn't understand what Jungkook was trying to tell him. Jungkook needed to explain everything so Namjoon could help.
"Is she crazy? You mean she is crazy?"
Jungkook sighed deeply.
"She had a bad experience with her ex-boyfriend. She... she was raped. Since then, her life has been ruined. That's why her mother took her away from city life. Since they moved, Hyolyn has changed back to the old Hyolyn: cheerful, the girl who likes to smile. She has been more cheerful ever since I appeared in her life."
"Jungkook...."
"Hyung, I don't know what I should do. I did not expect that she could hurt people. I should not let her go. I should not let her out of this house. She needs me."
"You do what you need to do. I don't know her, but she hurt your husband. You can't easily forgive her."
"I know, hyung. But..."
"Don't use that word, Jungkook. No 'but' in this situation."
Jungkook remained quiet for a few minutes, allowing himself to think about it. Yes, Hyolyn has destroyed Jimin's life. Of course, Jimin has changed since his legs no longer function. Jimin is getting quieter, and there are many things he hides from Jungkook. The smile on his face has also faded. That's why Jungkook allows Jin to stay here: so that Jimin is comfortable and hopes that Jimin will talk to Jin, the only person Jimin trusts right now.
